Marshall Music Boosters needs your help! Their Band Room was broken into and instruments and sound system were stolen:

The suspects took the sound system that we received through a grant from PEF. about 99% of flutes were taken, a few trumpet, trombone, and saxophones were also stolen.

These instruments' cases are marked and the instruments themselves, engraved with a FL1, TP2, etc...

Several guitar and bass amps were taken, some of them belonging to students.

Late on Saturday, February 28, masked intruders broke in to the band room at Marshall Fundamental in Pasadena and stole a large amount of instruments and equipment. Because of the band director being out for a conference, followed by a week of practices for our All District festival on Friday, March 6, we were not fully aware of the break in and the extent of our losses until Thursday, March 5. A police report was filed. Thursday night, our story got out into the press, and we were encouraged to set up a Go Fund Me account that night. Our story appeared on the television news Thursday, and by many news outlets on Friday. Then, during the concert Friday night, we received a text from our principal Dr. Anderson informing us that the Altadena Sheriff's department had recovered some of our stolen items. Apparently, after a traffic stop on Tuesday, they found items in the car that were marked PUSD. After the concert Friday, our band director Joel Lopez went to the Altadena Sheriff's department to talk with them, and perhaps ID the items found. After four hours into the night, he never saw the actual stolen items. He did see an inventory list they had. Although some of the things on the list seemed like they could be our instruments, it was impossible to tell without looking at them. In addition, the numbers were way different, including MANY fewer items than what we lost. At this point, it has been reported that the Sheriff's department told the Pasadena Police Department and the PUSD that items were found, as early as Wednesday. It is not yet known if, in fact, the PUSD knew, and if so, who was told. Of course, we are being asked whether we knew, and set up this GoFundMe account fraudulently. Considering what we have been through, that is particularly appalling. I know for a fact that NO one at Marshall knew about anything being found until Friday night. So, this is our message to you, our generous donors: 1. Some items were recovered, but we don't know what at this point. We have not been able to see them yet. From the inventory list, it seems as if it does not include everything we lost, but we just don't know yet. 2. No matter when the traffic stop occurred, or when that was reported to PUSD, NO ONE at Marshall knew about any items being recovered until Friday night. According to Pasadena NOW, the sheriff only realized the items they had might belong to us when the media reported our loss on Friday. 3. We are extremely, abundantly and truly emotionally grateful for the outpouring of generosity from family members, friends, past Marshall graduates, and everyone else who has stepped up to donate. If, in deed, some or all of our equipment is returned, all of these generous donations will go towards buying the expensive individual storage lockers and surveillance equipment to make our band room safer. After we replace everything that was lost, any extra donations will be used to make the appropriate upgrades to the band room to make it safer! Importantly, here is the press release issued by the Pasadena Unified School District: www.nixle.us/8LZYM Donations are STILL appreciated, in order to replace lost items that are not returned, or to upgrade our security. Thank you SO MUCH Jane Bradford Marshall Music Booster President

As of 8:30am on 3/7, no instruments have officially been identified as Marshall Fundamentals. It is not known how much, if any, instruments actually belong to the school. I would ask they in the event that these items are not the schools, we still continue to fundraise for the children and students of Marshall Fundamental Secondary School.

Actually, it sounds like there's an urgency to have this today and it's slow at the office so let me know ASAP and I can always run home to get it. Given the round trip (ironically from Pasadena) you probably won't see me until this evening, though. Call my office at 626/583-5660.

You can have my old high school/college marching trombone. Nothing fancy (no F trigger) but the slide is smooth and it's relatively dent free (typical "loved" condition). Also have a marching lyre for holding music if you want it. Available to loan or gift as needed. I'm at work now so can't deliver today but can deliver from my home in Diamond Bar tomorrow morning. jeff_musa@yahoo.com
