You’re woke, but what about your wardrobe?

Hi There!  I'm Anika Hobbs owner of Nubian Hueman.  We provide a platform for minority creatives to shelve their designs in a brick & mortar, Black-owned boutique. We make in-person buying for cultural goods and conscious apparel easy. Our focus is on pride while building our community and generating sustainability within the minority creative economy.

Your contribution will enable us to increase our impact with a second store location, while cultivating collective interaction, community development, and global networking for both the designer and conscious shopper alike. Somewhere they both can call home.

Currently, we curate prodominently ethnic goods and beauty products for women within less than 500 sqft.  Although we love serving our sistahs, our brothas, full-figured women, and parents have been asking for their for their fair share too.

We are requesting your generous support to help raise $10,000 by December 25, 2016 to cover some of the expenses of building out our new space.  In order to expand, we need your help!  By investing at least $30 in Nubian Hueman, we will be one step closer to making it happen .

If Nubian Hueman has impacted you in any way, we ask that you donate and share with your network, family, friends, and groups. No amount is too small or even too big.  We've even added special perks for our super supporters.

We thank you for hearing our story and supporting our cause.  We look forward to doing the work to make this project a complete success.

Our expansion is underway!  Thanks to your belief in Nubian Hueman, continuous support, kind words,  and generous donation; we are excited to announce the first phase of our expansion plans starting June 11th.  A celebratory groundbreaking will take place at our store on June 9th.

It is because of your contribution, much more than monetary, that we are able to embark on this new chapter of growth. I cannot fully express the amount of love and support shared at every turn throughout this process. The come by for hugs, motivation, and “How can I help?” has been overwhelming.

Nubian Hueman is expanding our space by doubling our 490 square foot store in the Anacostia Arts Center. We are knocking down the wall, rebuilding, and creating something great. The expanded location will feature a Men's department, custom furniture, dedication mural, projections, and Nubian Hueman branded artist collaborations.

We are excited about the possibilities the new space affords us AND you as we open our larger space for more creative entrepreneurs, events, and programming.  It is because of you that we are moving forward.  We ask that you continue to walk with us through this journey. Please stay connected as we seek your input and advice as a valued partner throughout this process.

Again, thank you!  We are because of you.
