A hearse! My Kingdom for a hearse!

Donation protected

There are few times in life where you can get to go in a Hearse without some frankly life-changing, or life-ending, event. When one comes up for sale, it is either at the end of life itself, or is a valuable business tool that has work to do.

Except, it seems, in the case of this 1993 Vauxhall Senator based Eagle Statesman. By British standards, an elegant mid-market model that has been used as a promotional vehicle for an automotive workshop, sporting the numberplate K666 HGF.

GoFundMe pages often have a heartwarming or tragic story. In this case, there's no hardship, it is purely that having seen this Hearse for sale, and being afflicted with a debilitating addiction to cars, I just cannot afford to add it to the fleet - but my friends think it is something that should not be missed. Inspired by their generous offers to help me on the way to Hearse ownership, I am putting this up, and if enough people find the idea of me driving about in a funereal vehicle amusing to throw a virtual pint into the mix, it will happen!

Because the seller of the Hearse is simply doing just that, I'd like to do this relatively quickly. There's also the obvious deadline of Halloween, with Whitby Goth Weekend and spooky goings on to die for.

Because this would in essence be a gift from friends, I have a couple of things that I'd like to make clear.

First, this is for the purchase price of the Hearse - if it does go over the amount it'll help with maintenance or silly customising, but I will arrange all of the other bits.

Should the Hearse be sold in the future, all proceeds will go to charity.

I wouldn't envisage selling it for at least a year, unless circumstances for storage change, but any work done, any upgrades or repairs will just be considered ongoing expenses.

If it is worth more as a result, then that's what goes to charity, no deductions. My default would be to split 50/50 between animal welfare (PDSA most likely) and cancer palliative/hospice care, but if preferences are stated on funding, I'll respect them.

Before tinting and signwriting, provided by the current owner.

As this is really only going to be relevant to friends, the other element of a crowdfunded Hearse is that I'll do what I can to make it available for any reasonable use - protests, rallys, promotional things, art or video; as long as the logistics are feasible, I'll help.

If you are so inclined, you're welcome to reserve it as a wedding car (no fees, no reward) with myself driving. I am not sure it is really appropriate for the more traditional use.

The exploits of the Hearse will, like all my cars, be photographed, shared, discussed, and may even make it into the best classic car titles in the UK.

Thanks for reading this far. And if you feel like helping me along the road into a Hearse - without using lethal force - thank you, again!

I am, of course, thinking of things I can offer in return for help getting this hearse; creative things, helpful things, fixing things - open to suggestions.
