Covering Costs While Reinventing Me

Donation protected

NEVER thought I would be doing this! Here goes ....

I moved back to my hometown of Twin Falls, Idaho over Labor Day 2015 to live with and care for my aging mother - to keep her in her own home as long as possible. I took a "work-from-home" job managing a state-wide professional membership organization.

LONG STORY SHORT: On the night of Sept 21, 2016, an electrical fire virtually destroyed my bedroom and home office in mom's house - and caused extensive heat/smoke damage throughout mom's home of nearly 40 years. Files and records for the nonprofit organization that I managed were rendered to ash (founding documents back to the 1940s) and all my computer equipment reduced to piles of molten plastic mixed with toxic metals. I resigned my position, unable to perform the work, and filed a claim for unemployment insurance. Mom and I have spent the past 8 weeks living with our shih tzu and two cats (one of which was caught in the fire and badly burned) in the Super 8 hotel while mom's house was gutted and is being rebuilt.

Today I was informed that my unemployment claim has been denied ... because I "voluntarily resigned" my position. Truthfully, what bottom was left in my  world just fell away. I augment costs related to my mother's medical and personal needs with my income. And that income is gone. Unemployment insurance isn't available to me to help fill the gap.

I'm applying for work! All kinds of work. Test Proctor at College of Southern Idaho. Obudsman at the Office on Aging for Idaho's District IV. Even front desk or housekeeping at the Super 8. And lots more .... but ... there's going to be a gap in income constituting several months.

That's why the "GoFundMe".

I desperately need your help to create a span of support for the weeks/months between 9/21/2016 (the night of the fire) and when I'm able to actually land a job (I'm guessing by 1/1/2017).

I've set a total fundraising goal of $3,500 for those 14 weeks between fire and New Year. (I cannot WAIT for the New Year!)

If you are able to contribute even $10 or $15, it will help me meet that goal. If you are unable to contribute monetarily, please keep mom and me and our furkids in your thoughts and prayers. That means so much.

We move back home on 11/21/2016!
