Jeanette’s medical Crisis

Donation protected

Jeanette would never be the one to ask for help, in fact, she's the one who typically gives. She's in a desperate situation and needs help or her treatments (chemotherapy) and any ongoing care will come to a stop! This means she will be at risk of going blind or paralyzed or both. It's unfortunate that with such a debilitating disease that our healthcare system allows abrupt termination of care even when someone is making monthly payments on their bill. Please help by sharing this campaign and helping in any way you can. Jeanette's next round of chemotherapy is supposed to be 1st week of June and any gap in this treatment could be the difference between blindness and sight or walking or not.

About two years ago my dear friend, Jeanette McCourt was diagnosed with THORACIC OUTLET SYNDROME. This is when Blood vessels or nerves in the space between the collarbone and first rib are compressed. This causes her an incredible about amount of Intense pain all around her shoulders, ribs and neck. She also experiences constant headaches, as well as numbness in her hands.  Lifting her arms is an exhausting task as blood flow is cut off. Everyday activities we take advantage of such as lifting our arms to wash hair or climbing up stairs can cause Jeanette to feel severely fatigued and experience an extreme amount of pain.  She has been trying non-surgical treatments and therapies for the past two years to try and lessen the pain, but hasn't had any luck and is only getting worse. The only option she has is to have the piece of rib that is compressing her veins and nerves removed. In order to have the two surgeries (one surgery for each side of her ribs) she will be travelling across the country to a specialist for 3 weeks, as this procedure is very dangerous and Thoracic outlet syndrome is very rare, making it hard to find experienced surgeons. On top of this diagnosis she has been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, sjogrens, Raynauds, optic neuritis, occipital neuralgia, and her list goes on. She has had 9 surgeries. Four hip surgeries(both replaced) five spinal surgeries, and also a complete hysterectomy due to severe bleeding which required two blood transfusions!

Even though is in a tremendous amount of pain, she has always managed to stay positive and always pushes through no matter how much things hurt. We met in a zumba class in our local gym, and I never would have imagined the amount of Internal battles she has been coping with. Jeanette has the kindest heart, and always brings people to smile with her witty sense of humor. I have so much love and compassion for Jeanette, She deserves a more enjoyable, pain free life.

She will be leaving this December for her first surgery and staying for 3 weeks, and leaving again in February for another 3 weeks for the other side to be done. Her costs and medical bills are unimaginable and she needs our help! Let’s see if we can help Jeanette have the surgeries she so desperately needs and take some of the fear and pain away by helping and sharing this campaign. There is no gift too small, Thank you for your support.

If you’d prefer to donate directly to Jeanette’s medical fund, you can also do through Venmo or PayPal. This eliminates the fees associated with gofundme which some have expressed concern over.
