Local Woman Starts Lone Walk to Fight Big Banks and Wage War on Homelessness
Michelle Darnell walks September 21 from Kirkland to Olympia for the Linda James Walk for Homes

Kirkland, Wa – Michelle Darnell, woman, mother, paralegal and activist for citizens’ rights takes on the Puget Sound by walking from Kirkland to Olympia to bring light to the foreclosure problem facing our communities. Darnell has dedicated her life to contesting big bank practices working as a foreclosure defense paralegal and volunteering for several organizations fighting homelessness.

“One of the reasons I am running for office and hope to be the first female libertarian elected to a state office in the nation, is to raise awareness and be a voice for the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost their homes to foreclosure in our state and the resulting homelessness crisis.”

Darnell’s walk will start in Kirkland on September 21 and end in Olympia on September 23. Before the walk she will collect donations for a charity involved with helping homelessness. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit those who lost their homes. Along the way she will rally for foreclosure rights and rights for the homeless providing information to anyone she comes across.

Linda James was a teacher who had been laid off due to the recession. She had owned her home for 15 years, but began worry that she may not be able to pay her mortgage. Linda had perfect credit and never missed a payment, but the bank would not help her unless she was 3 months behind, this lead to a downward spiral of and being misled by the bank. This all accumulated in Linda and her family being forcibly evicted. Linda fought for the banks for 2 years, until she died from cancer.

The Linda James Walk for Homes is meant to continue Linda’s fight against illegal foreclosure, but also help those effected. To help those who had lost their homes and need help right now.

Darnell has decided to take her fight to the next level by running for the Washington State House of Representatives District 48 position 1. She has seen so many failures by our state for the people struggling through these problems.

The road isn’t an easy one but that only propels her more. Washington has never lacked women in office, however the Evergreen State does has not accepted an outside party candidate. Darnell is running as a Libertarian. By winning that would make her the first and only female to every hold that title. In fact, in Washington that will make her the first Libertarian ever elected to office. Not an easy feat but with her experience and passion she is what Washington needs.

“We have had over 640k foreclosures in our state since 2007. History will show it was unnecessary and mostly illegal”.
