NiteNite's Knees/Colin's Passing

Donation protected
At the time this was made, colin and I were looking for help for our sweet baby Nite. On November 12th, Colin was taken from me and this life. The grief is unbearable, but I have been getting through each day with the help of my wonderful family and friends.
Anything you can help with would be greatly appreciated. I never thought I would be a widow at 34, and I can never really describe the pain of losing a soul mate to homicide. All the proceeds will go to the service and psychologist fees to overcome the PTSD/trauma that I (Liz) am trying to recover recover from.
Love and light.

Look at that sweet face.  How could you not melt when you see it?

NiteNite is one tough cookie who has been no stranger to pain in her short five years.  NiteNite had a litter of puppies and soon after got in an altercation with her first family's neighbor dog.  She has a bit of a Napoleon complex as most small dogs do and started a war with the  other dog to establish her dominance.  This particular altercation left her leg hanging after the other dog grabbed the leg through the fence.  She was rushed to the emergency vet and after amputation she was left with three legs.  Since NiteNite came from a home of breeders and six children, her first famly thought it would be best for NiteNite to have  a quieter life.

I learned of NiteNite when my dear friend Liv told me that NiteNite's owner was looking for a new home for her baby.  She was a perfect fit.  At that time, Colin and I had just moved in together and all he wanted for Christmas was a Pomeranian.  (He had fallen in love with Liv's Pom Peebo and wanted no other breed after that.)  After speaking with NiteNite's first mom, I was ready to adopt.

Nite came to us on Christmas Eve.  Her first mom quickly dropped her off (most likely due to the sadness of saying goodbye to her NiteNite) and said, "By the way, she may be pregnant.  I want one of the babies if she is."  Quite the shock to be left with, we soon brushed it off and welcomed our new baby into our home.  She wasn't pregnant, we had her spayed, and she had two teeth pulled during the first surgery.

The last three years with my little pumpkin have been the best of our lives.  We even added another rescue Fritz to the family.  The two are the best of buds and play all the time - well, up until we started noticing NiteNite acting funny.

Three weeks ago NiteNite started having trouble walking on her back left leg.  She could hobble around, but could not squat to use the restroom.  After almost two weeks of no recovery, I left work early and rushed her to the vet.

While we did not receive the worst news that we could have, it was also not the cheapest.  Three X Rays, blood work, and  $350 later, NiteNite has MLP and needs surgery on both of her back knees.

NiteNite needs the surgery for the first knee as soon as possible as she is in Stage 4 - the kneecap is no longer able to go back into place and she can't bend her knee.  We are hoping to be able to get both of her knees operated on at the same time, but because she is a tripod already, they may have to do seperately.  (2 month recovery period.)  The NSAIDs are helping to keep her comfortable and spirits up - I carried her on a hike through the woods today and she was pretty happy.

We can schedule an appointment for NiteNite just before Thanksgiving if we are able to get enough funds.  Anything you can donate is so much appreciated.  Please share if you feel compelled.

The surgery is between $1523.70 and $1950.62 per knee.  We are trying to raise the full <iframe media_type="0" media_id="vscmzK_Td5o" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vscmzK_Td5o/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe>

cost in case we need to have her operations at different times.  Any extra money will go to a dental cleaning/tooth extractions that she may need.

Thank you all for taking your time to read this.  Colin and I are very appreciative of your thoughts as we care for NiteNite while we raise money for surgery.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions or would like a further cost break down of the surgeries.

So much love,

Liz and Colin
