A PLAYGROUND FOR EVERYONE!
Nisley Elementary School is excited to announce the Nisley Playground Project.
We want YOU to be a part of it!
My son Gibson is a 3rd grader at Nisley Elementary. He is an awesome kid with some special needs. He is in a regular class, with his peers and he is just one of the boys..... except when it comes to recess. The playground is from 1958 and is all metal. Gibson has stability and mobility issues and cannot play with ANY of the equipment. I get weekly phone calls from the nurse, that my son has been hurt on the playground. We as his parents have done our best to have him live the best life that Gibson can live. It makes me very sad that not only Gibson, but some of his good friends cannot play at recess also.
So we decided to change that. Our PTO is in the process of applying for grants but we also need your help. Nisley Elementary is in desperate NEED for an all inclusive playground that ALL kids can play no matter anyones disabilities. We are the hub for special needs kids in Grand Junction Colorado, because of the great facilities and staff. However, the playground is insufficient and needs to be updated.
