Gary McNabb, a great friend to so many and the former owner of Leisure Time Dive and Ski Center, passed away on February 27, 2015, the result of a dive accident in Belize.
Diving was Gary’s passion, second only to his wife and family. He considered the dive and ski community part of his extended family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
As most know, the last couple of years have been challenging for Gary as he closed the store and moved to Florida to marry his wonderful wife. Unfortunately, during all the changes and challenges of trying to do right by all his family and friends, his DAN insurance lapsed, leaving him without that coverage for medical expenses. Expenses for diving related accidents are astronomical and it is uncertain how much of the costs incurred will be covered by his VA insurance.
Friends who were with Gary and Frances in Belize are setting up this GoFundMe account in response to the many who have asked how to help the family. Frances will be the designated beneficiary of all funds donated. We have set the funding goal high but it is likely that expenses will significantly exceed this amount so any contribution will help. Gary was devoted to his dive and ski community and always put our needs and wishes above his own. He gave so much to everyone he encountered. Now his family needs our help to cover the costs of neurosurgery and intensive care in Belize City, the medical evacuation to San Antonio, Texas, and the specialized care he received there as well as the many incidental expenses incurred.
We are all greatly blessed by having known and loved Gary. Now we have the opportunity to give back to him and his family and relieve some of their concerns while continuing to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Please consider helping Gary’s family in any way possible at this devastating time.
