New Deal Cafe Espresso Bar
Big changes are happening at the New Deal Café, including the exciting addition of a coffee shop in the front room. The coffee shop will be Greenbelt's community gathering place, with free WiFi for the work-at-home crowd, and it will attract new customers to Roosevelt Center. The café will serve specialty espresso drinks, drip coffee, organic loose-leaf teas, bagels and homemade pastries.
To make sure we do this right, we're sourcing our coffee from the expert roasters at Vigilante Coffee Shop in nearby Hyattsville. They buy their beans directly from coffee farms and small coops, so the profit goes to the farmers and not to middlemen. Vigilante is also helping us set up our espresso bar and helping us buy just the right equipment.
But we need your help! This GoFundMe campaign for $25,000 will help cover the cost of all the equipment, including a commercial-grade espresso machine, the espresso bar renovation and other start-up costs.
We invite you to be a part of the New Deal Cafés transition to an even livelier community hub by donating (as little or as much as you can afford) to help fund this exciting project. If you can’t donate yourself please pass this on to people you know who might be interested.
