Newark Police K-9 fund
Newark Police Department in Newark Ohio has had a continuously operating K-9 unit since 1969. Our K-9's are invaluable tools. They have helped rescue children, search schools, track and apprehend criminals. and locate drugs. We use them for demonstrations so we can educate the public on how important these animals are to the citizens of Newark Ohio. The purchase of our dogs has always come from private donations. Our two K-9's are 9 years old (63 dog years) and we would like to start the process of letting them retire and finding a couple new recruits to take over. K-9 Ike and K-9 Bear will not be happy about this and we know they can never be replaced and their loyalty and dedication will never be forgotten. However this is a young dogs job and with your help we would like to get two new K-9's purchased so they can begin their long training process. Our hope is this will sustain our K-9 unit for the next decade. We are also trying to purchase some equipment for the dogs police cruisers. We want our K-9's to be as safe as possible during their shifts, whether in the heat or cold during their shifts or in case of crashes, If we should exceed our goals all the money raised will only be used for K-9 specific equipment or training aids. Thank you!!!! Sgt. Doug Bline Newark Division of Police K-9 unit Supervisor
