Guy is 9 years old and is a happy, bright wee boy who loves all things Disney, pirates and owls. He has cerebral palsy affecting all 4 of his limbs, due to being starved of oxygen at birth, which gives him dystonic spasms. As a result of these spasms, Guy has undergone full hip reconstruction in 2014 on his right hip and December 2017 on his left hip. Guy returned to hospital early January 2018 for the removal of the pins from the previous surgery.
This will be our 3rd annual 10k sponsored walk for Guy Pentland. The money that we raise allows Guy continued therapy at home with his physio but also sessions at Bobath Scotland. This year some of the money raised was put towards purchasing a portable hoist to make days out and holidays easier for mum and dad. It's a great way to start the New Year with our #walk4guy. The family are also working towards a new wheelchair as Guy is growing so fast and things are changing all the time.
Our walk in Kelvindale starts at 1pm on the 1st of the 1st month of 2019 but you can join us by walking wherever you are and send in your photos. Over the last two years we've had friends walking in Barcelona, Helensburgh, other areas of Glasgow, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, Switzerland, Greece and the list just goes on and on.
Let's keep this community spirit thriving and start the New Year walking for our wonderful Guy.
