New Kidney For Chris!

Chris has been type 1 diabetic the majority of his life. We have been told that type 1 diabetes can attack your organs in pairs. Typically eyes and kidneys go together. I'm sure most of you remember Chris's extensive eye surgeries about 6 years back... well, now it's his kidneys turn.
We found out through a routine blood test a year ago that Chris is in kidney failure, then his kidneys were only functioning at 6%. His choices were to do nothing and not last very long, or start dialysis and get on the transplant list for a kidney. We all know, but most importantly Chris knows he has a ton to live for and chose the dialysis/transplant option.
Within the last year, Chris has started hemo dialysis and switched to pertioneal dialysis. His kidney function is now at 3%. He is holding steady with the help of his amazing Dr's and staff and is currently waiting for a kidney transplant. The wait time for a kidney is approximently 5 years. We are hoping to find a living donor and not need to wait that long.
Thankfully through this site and a fundraiser held at Old Chicago last year, we are not moving into the year with any outstanding medical bills. However, all of our deductables have started over, so the bills are rolling in.
Many of you have asked us to re-start the GoFundMe and I was reluctant to do so. But.. after learning the price point of all the medications and dialysis supplies, not to mention Dr visits and tests Chris needs... we have caved.
We appreciate each and everyone of you so much. The meals, the rides, the calls, the prayers. All the love is not being taken for granted. We are humbled and grateful beyond words.
