The photo for my campaign was one of the few photographs of myself as a child, if the 80's clothing wasn't a giveaway. Gofundme is full of the sad tales of bad hands in life, and I will touch on this a little bit, but prefer not to dwell on it. This is not a "woe is me" campaign, it is a "I am going to make it!" campaign.
I have been on Disability since 2014, and I truly hate not generating my own income. I have worked all of my life as I even lived on my own and supported myself since I was 16. I have had many jobs starting with resturant work, to insurance agent, to 911 dispatcher and so on moving up...until I crashed physically and mentally. Due to my conditions "normal work" is not an option for me, but I refuse to let that stop me from supporting myself.
My disabilities come from several things, physically and mentally. I have endured a lifetime of physical, mental and sexual abuses. As a child I was locked in confined spaces, molested, beaten and left hungry. At 12 I was blessed to be placed in foster care and later in the care of my older sister until I was 16, when I moved out on my own. I seem to have followed with the Domestic violence patterns, fortunately only receiving bruises, TBI and a broken foot. These things along with other tragedies contributed to my suicide attempt in 2014. Once out of the coma, I have been diagnosed with PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, and Depression with a splash of OCD and Agoraphobia.
With all that mess, it's hard to believe my physical disabilities, so I will stop there
In my research, I have not found a singular ligitimate way to make a livable income; so several avenues will have to be followed with a little from each equaling self sufficiency. These avenues include designing items on cafepress, Etsy- selling my sewn items, and as I have a passion for history and genealogy; doing genealogy research for others.
My needs would be as follows:
$100-$300 Software and Graphics
$250-$500 Sewing Supplies (fabric, notions etc)
$200-$600 listing fees/genealogy subscriptions
$200 Electric Panel
$400 Electric Connection
$1000 Electric Inspection
$100-$300 Water Storage
$75 used stove
$75 used Refrigerator
$2,000 construction supplies
I truly believe that being self sufficient again will make all the difference to my whole world! Any assistance to help me regain my independence would be amazingly life altering in immeasurable ways! I still have a lifetime of goals to attain and I am not ready to give up on them, no matter how big or small. Some of my goals on top of supporting myself are to fix my vehicle, purchase a small bit of land (+/- 1 acre) to have a place that is mine, be able to see my family,solve some of my medical mysteries, be able to help others in need and so on.
I realize none of that is extravagent, but I do not intend to be a millionaire. I just plan to live and contribute to life. I do not spend frivolously, only purchasing "needs" at regular price and still try to use a coupon of find a sale even then. As soon as I am able to attain what is needed of any component, I will begin working immediately on regaining my life!
