Please Help Fund Rescue's Surgery!

I was walking back from the corner store Thursday night, December 3rd, when I found a small dog on the sidewalk. I had only left my house a few minutes ago and the dog hadn't been there, and I've never seen her on the street before.

I realized that she fell from the 4th floor of the building I was passing! She was really skinny and clearly underfed. I had a bad feeling about it but I actually did try to bring her back at first, and the closer we got to her apartment the more violently she started shaking. It was so heartbreaking.
I knocked on the door (no answer) and spoke to the surrounding neighbors and everyone said the same thing about the owner of the dog-- she was mentally unstable, a hoarder, and could not care properly for the dog, nor any of the other 4 that were still in the apartment. Between the dog's reaction in my arms, the feedback from the neighbors, and my gut feeling, I decided to keep the dog and make it my personal mission to keep her happy and healthy and nurse her back to health!

I have since reported the animal neglect to the ASPCA.

The next morning early before work I brought her to my vet, where I was informed she she was very underweight, malnourished and slightly dehydrated (all being treated with many frequent meals, lots of water, and lots of love!), incurred severe liver trauma from the fall (currently being treated with medicine, full recovery is expected), and most concerning, her front-right leg is broken. My vet tried the best that she could but due to the way the leg broke (right at the tip of the bone, see x-ray), she was unable to stabilize the leg back together properly with a splint, surgery is required to actually screw the bones back together.

Surgery is so important is because the bone will not heal properly on it's own, and the dog will continue to experience pain and discomfort for the rest of her life, and as she ages, it will turn into bad arthritis. Another solution that has been offered if I am not able to financially afford the surgery, is amputation, which admittedly isn't the worst thing in the world, but I truly want to try my best to give this dog the life she deserves. She's been through so much, especially in these last few days, and although the price of surgery is daunting, I am not done trying yet. I have never rescued a dog before, and I cannot honestly explain the feeling that overcame me when I found her on the freezing street of NYC that night, but as soon as I picked her up, I just felt something; I felt her helplessness, I felt the trust she had in me, and I felt compelled to do my best to take care of her. It's a miracle she is even alive, and I truly believe that she is still here and that I found her for a reason. Thus, I have set up this GoFundMe page, to ask for your help in jumpstarting some of the best days of the rest of her life!

I have exactly ten days (December 16th) until her next appointment at which point I will have to decide whether to move forward or not with the surgery, which largely depends on the success of this campaign. Every donation helps, and I cannot express to you all my gratitude for even coming here and just reading our story whether you decide to donate or not. The way this dog has touched my heart, I hope to share with you all as well in the form of updates on her progress, videos, thank you cards, whatever I am able to do (within the paramters of this website) to express my gratitude to you all. Thank you for stopping by and hearing our story, and thank you for your donations!!! This means everything to us!

I have not had a Facebook page for many years, but please feel free to reach oput to me via instagram or email!
