Hello everyone!I'm Rachel, an LGBT+ 20 year old woman and a third year Fine Arts student at UC; I am in dire need of financial help.
I am living in an apartment and pay for my bills, my health insurance, my medications, and other living expenses. Until recently I worked two jobs; I had to cut down on hours and quit my restaurant job to have enough school time. I am a full time student working 30 hours a week in retail, in addition to making art on commission. I am working very hard to stay in school both academically and financially.
For the past few semesters parental aid, scholarships, and FAFSA grants have been enough to put me through school at the University of Cincinnati. I have Major Anxiety and Depressive disorders along with moderate PTSD, and due to emotional and financial stress, I had to take a break from school in the spring semester of 2015 to focus on work, mental health, and to save up. I am now back in the game, but several things happened in that time that drastically changed the amount of tuition aid I would receive. Remarriage in the family brought my federal aid grants down to 0$, and my semester off threw the scholarships I had out the window. My parents are no longer able to provide tuition aide for this semester. The student loans I qualified for are less than $4,000 for a semester that costs nearly $8,000.
I am determined to finish college and get my BFA. Next year I will apply for the FAFSA as independent to get my grants back, now that I am paying more than 80% of my expenses. Those grants should be enough to get me through my last year of school, but right now I can't even sign up for spring semester classes until all $7702.94 is paid. My current student loans will be paying for $3000.
I have several hundred dollars saved outside my living budget to pay for some of my tuition, but it is not enough to get me all the way there.
I am taking art commissions at very low prices during this time, which I will post more information on soon.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Any donation is welcome. Please feel free to email me with any questions about the validity of my situation or commission inquiries to [email redacted].
