Gustavo José Díaz Machado es un joven venezolano de 19 años, amigo de mi familia, estudiante de Comunicación Social en la Universidad Santa María de Lechería, Estado Anzoátegui, músico, ejecutante de la guitarra, gran conocedor del fútbol que participó como comentarista deportivo en programas de radio de la zona donde destacó con su conocimiento, simpatía y agilidad en la materia.
Hijo de un matrimonio estable. Con 28 años de casados a su madre Marlyn Machado de Díaz se le presentó de manera sorpresiva un cáncer que empezó a manifestarse en mayo del 2016 y en junio de ese mismo año, cuando la familia estaba atravesando esa difícil situación al mismo tiempo, Gustavo tuvo que ser operado de emergencia en la ciudad de Caracas de un tumor cerebral que sugería una enfermedad neoplásica maligna. Se le realizó la respectiva biopsia y se detectó la presencia de un glioma de alto grado compatible con Astrocitoma Anaplasico Básico grado III motivo por el cual se le indicó y aplicó en el Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad un tratamiento consistente en seis (6) semanas de Radioterapia y 6 ciclos de quimioterapia basada en Termozolamida, complementado con Ondansetron y con Filgrastim.
Al término de ese tratamiento el paciente sigue presentando actividad tumoral motivo por el cual requiere recibir un nuevo tratamiento, exámenes regulares y la determinación de nuevas alternativas médicas que le permitan recuperar su salud y salvar su vida.
Nos han recomendado la evaluación del caso en el Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center ubicado en New York, Estados Unidos, que es uno de los más acreditados centros especializado en cáncer.
En el lugar se requeriría cubrir costos para la recepción del caso, la revisión con el patólogo y radiólogo y consulta integral vía e mail que se estima en 6,500 dólares. Lo anterior sin contar gastos de traslado, estadía y tratamiento si fuere necesario trasladarse al lugar.
La urgente necesidad de evaluar nuevas alternativas médicas en el caso, la necesidad de suministro de medicinas y la realización de exámenes especiales se ve afectada por la existencia de una pública y notoria crisis humanitaria en Venezuela en materia de salud lo cual exige el apoyo de entidades o personas que puedan ayudar a formar un fondo que permita cubrir los gastos para la atención en el Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
De manera inmediata, Gustavo necesita la realización de un Profile Genético (test genético) que se realiza en Estados Unidos a través del Laboratorio Caris LIfe Sciences el cual sería indispensable para definir el tipo de tratamiento a seguir y el costo de este examen son 6.500 dólares.
Para abordar estos dos compromisos urgentes necesitamos recibir contribuciones que nos permitan: realizar el test genético, en primer lugar, y reunir fondos cubrir el tratamiento que se defina como consecuencia del mismo bien sea en el Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center o en cualquier otro centro especializado en EEUU.
Yo, John Jeffcoat Meszaros, seré responsable de retirar los fondos de la campaña y hacérselos llegar al papá de Gustavo, José Félix Díaz, quien se encargará de emplear los fondos para cubrir todos los costos relacionados al caso de su hijo.

My friend Gustavo José Díaz Machado is a young Venezuelan of 19 years, student of Social Communication in the Santa María University at Lechería , Anzoátegui State, musician, guitar player and soccer connoisseur. He participated as a sport commentator in various radio programs in the area, where he excelled with his knowledge, dynamism and positive spirit. He was born into a family with two loving parents who were happily married.
After 28 years of marriage, his mother Marlyn Machado de Diaz suddenly developed a cancer that began to manifest itself in May of 2016. In June of that same year, while the family was going through this difficult situation, Gustavo had to undergo emergency surgery in the city of Caracas for a brain tumor that suggested a malignant neoplastic disease. The respective biopsy was performed and the presence of a glioma of high degree compatible with Grade III Basic Antroplastic Astrocytoma was detected. A treatment consisting of six (6) weeks of radiotherapy and 6 cycles of chemotherapy based on Thermozolamide, supplemented with Ondansetron and with Filgrastim, was then prescribed him at Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad.
At the end of this treatment, Gustavo continues to suffer from tumor activity, which is why he needs to receive new treatments, tests and any medical alternatives that will allow him to recover his health and save his life!
We have been advised to evaluate his case at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, USA, which is one of the most accredited centers specializing in cancer.
The costs for the appointment, the review with the pathologist and radiologist and integral consultation via e-mail are estimated at US$ 6,500. This amount does not include expenses related to transfer, stay and treatment should it be necessary to transfer there.
The urgent need to evaluate other medical alternatives for this case and the need for medicine and special examinations is greatly affected by the public and notorious humanitarian crisis afflicting Venezuela in the field of medicine. Because of this, we depend on the support of any and all entities or persons who can contribute financially to cover the costs of treating Gustavo at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Immediately, Gustavo needs do a Genetic Profile (genetic test) that is performed in the United States through the Laboratory Caris Life Sciences, essential to define the type of treatment he would need to undergo. The cost of this exam is US$6,500.
In order to proceed with these two urgent obligations, we need to receive contributions that enable us to: perform the genetic test first and raise funds to cover subsequent treatments determined by this test either at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or any other specialized center In U.S.A.
I, John Jeffcoat Meszaros, will be responsible for withdrawing the funds from the campaign and delivering them to Gustavo's father, José Félix Díaz, who will use them to cover all the costs related to his son's case.
