Wildlife and Reptile Rehab Fund

Donation protected
Nature's Edge Wildlife Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and reptile rescue. Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned wildlife with the goal of returning them back to their natural habitat and to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted exotic reptiles. We also provide transport for other species of wildlife to permitted wildlife rehabilitators.

In addition to rehab, we provide educational programs to the public regarding natural history, identification, conservation, adaptations and minimizing human/wildlife conflicts. We can often be seen at our local Cabela's conducting education programs throughout the year, as well as local schools, scouts, Arbor Day celebrations and other outdoor events.

We are a husband and wife team, with a small group of dedicated transport volunteers. Wildlife rehabilitators do not receive any state or federal funding.  We rely solely on tax-deductible donations from the public. Hence the reason for this request.

Currently there is a need to expand some of our enclosures, primarily for turtles, tortoises and raptors.  This is the time of year that we see an influx of turtles needing our help, from dehydration to car strikes.  We are out of room for aquatic turtles! We desperately need to expand (i.e. my wife wants her spare bathtub back!).  We want to build a nice outdoor pond area to condition aquatic turtles before their release. We need to know they are truly ready to be returned to the wild. An outdoor pond and filtration system would allow these turtles to get the crucial natural sunlight (UV) they need for good health. It will also give them a place to chase fresh food around and gain their strength by swimming as they should.

Also needed is a larger, predator proof enclosure for box turtles and tortoises to get outside for natural sunlight and to stretch their legs. We must keep native and non-native species separate from each other to reduce possible disease transfer. In addition, tortoises must be separated by size to prevent any fighting or other injuries. We also must provide outdoor heated houses for them to go into at night or on cooler days.

We are close to finishing our seven chamber raptor facility which can house raptors in individual chambers or, by removing walls, be turned into a larger flight chamber. Additional supplies are needed to complete this project including window and roofing materials.

Medical supplies and medications are running low and need to be replenished as we are entering our busy season. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to caring for the animals.

Please consider helping us out in our passion to help animals in need! We appreciate your support! #GoBeyondGiving
