Days Of Silver: The Album & Memoir

Donation protected
In the fall of 2014, I embarked on a cross-country journey to scatter my father's ashes in some of his favorite places in the southwest and all along the California coast. It was a surreal and highly personal experience, and whenever I was emotionally able to do so, I documented the trip by writing what became a road memoir reflecting on my life, my dad, and our shared memories, views, and interests. I also wrote a batch of songs from his perspective, imagining his experiences and thoughts while on his own southwestern adventures a decade prior. After returning from the trip, I utilized inheritance money to fund a few creative endeavors, including commissioning future cover art for the road memoir from a legendary Hollywood poster artist named Steven Chorney (this isn't the art you see me holding in the photo on this page - that's an old courtroom sketch of dad from his time as District Attorney of Erie County, Pennsylvania). Although the inheritance has now run its course, I would still love to complete and release these other two creative projects inspired by and in memory of my dad: the memoir and album that serve as companion pieces for my (our) time spent out on the open road.

At the following link, you can hear an audio preview of the road memoir as part of an episode from my podcast series Dearly Beloved:

Chapter 4: Scattering Ashes With A Pop Star (audio)

I'm so very grateful for any contribution you feel you can make toward bringing these tributes to life!

Contributions will help fund several things:
- Graphic design/layout for the cover and body of the book, plus production cost for the limited number of copies that will be privately printed
- Recording costs for the new batch of songs (some recording will take place at various friends' home studios in and around LA, and some will take place in more established full-service studios)
- Living and travel expenses while collaborating with recording engineers and the graphic designer on bringing these things to life

I'm very aware that, in the five years since I last utilized a crowdfunding campaign, life has only become even tougher - and finances for many people even tighter - than they were in the already tough beginning of the 2010's. Please know that I completely understand how difficult or even impossible it is to both keep yourself/your family afloat AND give to artists hoping to fund their creative projects. I assure you that I'll gratefully accept whatever contributions you can afford to make with a dedicated sense of responsibility (both to you and to my dad's memory) and seriousness. I won't squander your gift or take lightly your enthusiasm.

Since everyone's financial situation is different, I've decided not to offer incentives for contributions of certain amounts (so that no one feels left out) and to instead offer the same incentive to everyone: Whomever makes a contribution to this campaign will have their full name (if desired) printed in the thank you section of the book.

Thank you in advance to anyone who makes a contribution - I hope you'll enjoy and find some value in the work I'm able to complete as a result of your generosity, belief, and support! - Love, Nathan
