Nathans goes spartan for beyondblue

My name is Nathan Scattini. I am 27 years old, and i have anxiety/depression.

Some of my hobbies include not leaving the house and 10 hour video game marathons alone.

During one of these sessions, i had an epiphany.

"Nathan...you are never going to get better if you keep sitting around on your ass doing nothing all day. you need to get out and do something worth doing!"

I thought about it for a moment, and then did nothing.

thats just how i roll.

but the thought kept popping in to my head.

"do something.."

"DO SOMETHING!"

in order to get myself to shut up, i turned off the console and started brainstorming...

(what if i just change things up by playing games on the laptop?)

I decided the most worth while thing i could do is to do something for charity.

but i didnt want to do something crappy. it had to be a challenge. Something that would get me out of my comfort zone. Something that people would donate money to see me do.

so i signed up for the spartan race...

(what the hell have i done..)

so now i have roughly two months to go from a pack a day couch potato to a spear wielding demi-god.

oh dear...


i will attempt to do a weekly blog to keep you up to date on my training and diet and all that stuff.

funds raised will be donated directly to beyondblue.org.au 


beyondblue is an Australian, independent non-profit organisation working to address issues associated with depression, anxiety disorders and related mental disorders.

I really do believe this is a worthy cause. depression and anxiety are something i deal with daily.

I want people to know they do not have to suffer in silence. 

There is no shame in seeking help.

You are not alone.
