Nancy Wright cancer/job loss fund

$3,790 of $4,500 goal

Raised by 44 people in 24 months

I was diagnosed with Stage 3b Ovarian Cancer in June 2017.  I had a full hysterectomy and a bowel resection because my tumors had spread outside of my ovaries.  Upon examining my ovarian tissue, the Pathologist could see abnormal fibers consistent with the ingredients in baby powder that many women sprinkle in their undergarments for freshness purposes.

After 8 weeks of post-op recovery, I began chemotherapy treatments in August 2017.  But shortly after that, I lost my job.  I have been out of work since, and now I must vacate my apartment because I have gone through my savings to pay my lingering medical bills.

Cancer does not run in my family.  I have lived a healthy lifestyle, and am very sad this happened to me.  As of today, I am clear of new tumors, but am told this cancer could return within a few years.  I am praying it doesn't!

Your help, no matter how small, would be a blessing to me.

Thank you!

P.S. Please don't hold it against me that I am still a Cubs fan!  I am originally from Chicago, but have lived in Denver since the 1990's.  GO ROCKIES!  :)

Dear friends and family,

I want to share a little bit about what it’s been like for me since my 2017 cancer diagnosis and more recently.

First and foremost, at this time I am cancer-free! My treatments worked and my scans are clear. I get check-ups every 4 months to make sure it stays that way. I am blessed that I have a great care team!

The lingering side effects of chemotherapy, however, have reared their ugly head on numerous occasions. Mostly, it's my poor immunity to viruses. I can get really sick if exposed to anyone with even just a cold. My doctor says this *should* diminish over time, but some patients don't fully recover. This, combined with fatigue and occasional numbness in my hands and feet have been a challenge; particularly with work. I had to resign from 2 positions in the last year because I kept getting sick being around people.

So, I'm going to take a local driving job in the coming weeks that will ensure very little human contact. The pay is less than half of what I'm used to making in my prior HR roles, but I have to earn a living. I'll give it a good try and hopefully it will work out.

In closing, I just want to say that your incredible outpouring of goodwill and kindness has and is truly making a difference. I have read your messages and have gained hope! I still have a ways to go to reach my goal, but I’m on my way.

I will continue to post updates as appropriate. Thank you ever so much for your help, kind words, and prayers!

Fondly,
Nancy
