We at the National Association of Hispanic Journalist
have started a scholarship program for college and university students in San Diego County and Tijuana, Mexico pursuing journalism careers in English and Spanish language media (TV, print, radio, digital, and photojournalism).
Our goal is to help local Latinos, and those that believe there should be more Latinos in news, and tell better stories about Latinos in news, both in English and Spanish.
We are looking to raise $1,000. The money will help with student tuition (paid to school), books (or school supplies), transportation (such as study-abroad expenses), or career related equipment (ex. digital camera/software).
Winners of the scholarships will be awarded scholarships at a special event in May 2019.
Scholarships recipients will be chosen from our scholarship subcommittee and scholarship partners, based on merit (GPA, resume, personal statement). The scholarship selection process will be done without knowing applicant's name and gender, to ensure fairness.
When you donate $50 or more you will receive a ticket to our scholarship event.
Donate $100 or more you will receive a ticket to our scholarship event and attend all NAHJ San Diego-Tijuana Chapter events for free.
All donors will receive a thank you letter with a tax deductible account of your donation.
