On Saturday, March 26th, Kurt Nagel suffered from a spinal injury while playing football for the non-profit Enforcers. His surgery on Easter went well overall but Kurt still has a long road ahead of him.
"Kurt suffered some minor complications last night. During the surgery and again when they were trying to get him to breath on his own is when this happened. They got out but it caused him to get a fever. He will be on a breathing tube possibly for the next few days. Thank you for your continued prayers.  I just want to see those beautiful eyes open!!" - Angela Nagel (Wife)
He is the majority provider for his family. Kurt is a devoted father and husband and works as a Border Patrol Agent off the coast of San Diego.   He is a Marine veteran who continues to serve his community and country.  The Enforcers football team is  non-profit team made of various law enforcement personnel who play to raise money for charity.  Please help support his family and help them stay strong during this time.

Early this morning the tube was able to be successfully removed from Kurt! Kurt's mom says that Angela should start a journal with all of the funny things that Kurt has been saying that he will never remember because of the meds. His brothers Paul and Matt flew out along with sister-in-law Jennifer to show support for Kurt. They helped keep him calm during the removal of the tube. Thank you for everyone for the continued prayers. While this is great news, we are not out of the woods yet. There is a long way to go on the road to a successful recovery. The Nagel Family thanks everyone for their continued support.

"Update: vitals are all good, oxygen is good, he will be on the breathing tube at least two to three more days to give his lungs more time to heal. The nurses are reassuring me that he is going to be ok, it just takes time. He is doing good with is breathing trials too. God give me patience!!!"

As of around 3 P.M. today, the breathing tube has been removed! "Listen lady, i have broken my neck before and I can walk!" This is what Kurt is saying while on his medication. Glad to see some progress. He is still a long way from recovery and they continue to need everyone's support! It is greatly appreciated.

Kurt continues to be on the ventilator after the 2nd surgery to move the screws in his neck. He is a fighter and they have to keep him heavily sedated so he doesn't pull it out. They are concerned about the fluid in his lungs, but hope that will clear up as they try to wean him off the breathing tube. We appreciate all of your support and concern for our family during this difficult time. I know Kurt will be touched beyond words when he sees how our community has come together.

Waking up to this outcry of support and generosity from friends, acquaintances and strangers is very emotional and humbling. Thank you all so much, no "thank you" can begin to describe my appreciation.
