Support G&O Family Cyclery
The explosion that took place on Wednesday morning was devastating in so many ways. So much work, time and money went into making that space beautiful. It is so sad to see it gone! Most importantly, we are so grateful that no one was hurt (it is a miracle). But now in the aftermath, we need to pick up the pieces and move on. G & O needs your support right now.
The G & O team (Davey, Tyler, Donald, Karl and Forrest) were in the process of expanding. They had rented and were about to open a service area on the 85th street side of the building. They were poised and ready to move into the next stage of business when this setback occured.
They need to move to a temporary space (possibly permanent and hopefully still in Greenwood) and they need help to get through these tough times. They don't want to lay anyone off and they need to rebuild. If we all pull together, G & O will be better than ever.
We are part of such a rich, vibrant, amazing community. All of the offers of support and encouragement so far have been overwhelming and heart-warming. Many people have been asking how they can help, right now donating to this rebuilding fund is the best way. Please help with whatever you can and we will see you in the new space soon!

This is amazing. With your help, we can make our goal and we will survive this setback, and return better than ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What beats explosions which rock our neighborhood and flatten our block? Explosions of love and kindness which buoy us back up, heal and restore us. We have so much more to give back, and we promise that we will.
There are several retail spaces for rent on Lake City Way just north of 125th St. We were just having a very vibrant conversation on Nextdoor.com about what our neighborhood needs, and a bike shop was definitely on the list. This is an up and coming neighborhood close to the Burke Gilman with fewer hills than most of Seattle and lots of new bike lanes. Please consider opening a temporary location here and maybe having this as a 2nd permanent location moving forward. I wish you all the best as you rebuild.
Watching the amount climb over the last few hours has been the highlight of my day. This community is so inspiring.
