Hello, this is Danielle, Davey Oil's partner. I am writing on behalf of G &O Family Cyclery. In the couple years that the shop has been open, G & O has grown to love Greenwood and this amazing community and they have brought so much to the neighborhood and all the biking peeps. They love their jobs and what they do. They are committed lovers of you, bikes and Greenwood.

The explosion that took place on Wednesday morning was devastating in so many ways.  So much work, time and money went into making that space beautiful. It is so sad to see it gone! Most importantly, we are so grateful that no one was hurt (it is a miracle). But now in the aftermath, we need to pick up the pieces and move on.  G & O needs your support right now.

The G & O team (Davey, Tyler, Donald, Karl and Forrest) were in the process of expanding. They had rented and were about to open a service area on the 85th street side of the building. They were poised and ready to move into the next stage of business when this setback occured.

They need to move to a temporary space (possibly permanent and hopefully still in Greenwood) and they need help to get through these tough times. They don't want to lay anyone off and they need to rebuild. If we all pull together, G & O will be better than ever.

We are part of such a rich, vibrant, amazing community.  All of the offers of support and encouragement so far have been overwhelming and heart-warming. Many people have been asking how they can help, right now donating to this rebuilding fund is the best way. Please help with whatever you can and we will see you in the new space soon!

For more info check out: http://savegando.com/

Another option for helping:
Bring or mail a check made out to “G & O Family Cyclery” to:

Umpqua Bank
7120 Greenwood Ave N.
Seattle, WA 98103

Davey and Tyler will get the funds immediately and there will be no platform or transaction fees.

OH WOW. G&O JUST REACHED THEIR GOAL. Thank you so much to everyone! Things are looking up! If you haven't been by the new temp space (as they are affectionately calling 'the summer home') go check it out. Super cute. They have been working so hard. Still looking for a new permanent space but they are so happy to be up and running again. xoxoxo, - danielle

Hi friends, Wow! What an amazing show of support from the community. It is extremely touching. Thank you so much. Update on the shop: We were able to clear most of the contents of the two spaces out over the past couple of days and secure it in storage. Luckily, it seems like a lot of inventory might still be salvageable. As for the insurance money, that is still up in the air. We fear that it may take a while but have been hearing lots of different things. This rebuilding fund will go a long way in cushioning that blow. As for a new location, please let us know if you know of any spaces that might work for G & O to relocate.

Hope to see you at the fundraiser tomorrow night (Tuesday, March 15th) at Peddler Brewery. More details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/241257932880423

This is amazing. With your help, we can make our goal and we will survive this setback, and return better than ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What beats explosions which rock our neighborhood and flatten our block? Explosions of love and kindness which buoy us back up, heal and restore us. We have so much more to give back, and we promise that we will.

There are several retail spaces for rent on Lake City Way just north of 125th St. We were just having a very vibrant conversation on Nextdoor.com about what our neighborhood needs, and a bike shop was definitely on the list. This is an up and coming neighborhood close to the Burke Gilman with fewer hills than most of Seattle and lots of new bike lanes. Please consider opening a temporary location here and maybe having this as a 2nd permanent location moving forward. I wish you all the best as you rebuild.
