Kilworth Children's Centre Fire
Donation protected
On Sunday, February 7, 2016 a fire occurred at the Kilworth Children's Centre (KCC), in Kilworth, Ontario. While no one was hurt, the fire caused extensive damage to the Centre, and as a result, KCC is seeking financial assistance in the amount of $50,000.
KCC is a non-profit organization, providing daycare services, before and after school programs, and school break / summer camp programs to approximately 100 children. It has been serving the small community of Kilworth, Ontario, as well as several neighbouring communities, for over 25 years.
The fire damage was extensive, and will require several months of construction in order to get the Centre fully operational again. KCC's insurance policy covers only the contents and reconstruction costs, but does not reimburse KCC for any lost revenue during that time.
In the meantime, KCC is unable to provide its full range of services to families in the communities. Specifically, the summer camp and March Break programs are unfortunately cancelled for 2016. This is projected to be an enormous loss in revenue to the Centre of over $70,000.
This loss in revenue is threatening our future operation of Kilworth Children’s Centre, and without additional funds, KCC will not be able to remain open. We are seeking donations in order to keep KCC operating, so that we can continue to provide care for the area, as well as the families that rely on it.
We thank you in advance for your generosity. Official donation receipts will be issued for donations greater than $25.00, for Canadian Income Tax Purposes.
