Theatre has the power to bring light, to transform, to heal and to connect. In a career in theatre, some pieces feel like a calling. Next to Normal has called to us for several years, and as we continued to work in schools alongside remarkable students, watching them grow as performers and express a desire to dig deeper into more challenging and meaningful work, the call only became louder and clearer with the addition of their voices.
As a small but incredibly powerful ensemble piece, we feel Next to Normal is a unique way to continue to work with the emerging young artists we have had the honor of teaching, while placing them alongside professional theatre artists in a project we are all deeply passionate about, both as a breathtaking piece of art, and as a means of shining a light into the darkness.
We have decided to create and produce our own work, under the name New Light Theatre, and are thrilled to be joined by a talented and generous cast for our production of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning Next to Normal, August 10-12th at the Limelight Performing Arts Center.
As we are self-producing, we would be so deeply appreciative of any contribution you can make to support us on this journey, and we hope you will consider joining us in August!
