Attorney Retainer Fee

So as everyone is aware, I am going through some legal issues. I am trying to secure my visitation with my daughter, as well as a few other things. I have found an attorney that has cut his retainer by OVER half. I hate that I am having to go this route, but I have to do something. I really need some help with this.
