Damon, AJ, and Lucki hike the PCT

It has long been my girlfriend's dream to Triple Crown (hike the Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and the Appalachian Trail). Since we live on the west coast, we thought we'd start with the easiest one for us: The Pacific Crest Trail.

Given that I work at REI and she does Search and Rescue, we already have pretty much all the gear we need. We ARE trying to raise the rest of the money we need all on our own, but we are worried that we will be cutting it pretty close.

Who is Going:

Me (Damon), my girlfriend (AJ), and her dog (Lucki).  This will be a huge adventure for us. A test of each of us individually and our relationship. The dog is coming because he's an emotional support animal, and he LOVES hiking with us.

What the Money is For:

Food, mostly. We will be buying a large amount of our food in the towns/stops along the trail. What we don't buy, we will be shipping to resupply points, so some of the money will be going to postage fees to get the food there.

Emergencies. Stuff happens. If one of us gets sick or injured, we might have to get transport out from the trail and/or stay in a motel for a couple nights to recover. Hopefully that won't happen, but...

The Trip:

2600 miles. 5ish months.

We plan to leave from the Mexican border at the end of April/early May. If all goes according to plan, we will reach the Canadian border no later than early October.
