About me:
Hello my name's Darren Roberts and I'm a scriptwriter who's been trying for way too long to get something through the production process (going on fifteen years already)
I've had various projects go into pre-production (the early planning stages) but none of them got any further largely due to not having funding and therefore not being able to get people to commit to the project, especially when paying jobs come along.
How you can help:
I've realised the only way I can get anything done is if I can afford to pay everyone involved, which is where you nice people come in. So far I've managed to scrape together £1000 which I raised by using birthday and christmas money and selling things but that has taken over a year as I haven't been able to work for over four years due to a heart condition (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome)
The £1000 I already have is a good start but I feel that it may still not be quite enough for the project I'm trying to get off the ground as I need to secure a location to film as well as hire actors and a small crew, possibly hire some equipment if I can't borrow it, cover peoples travelling expenses and feed everyone while they're on set too.
Once the filming is finished i'll need to hire an editor and I'd also like to enter the short into competitions and film festivals to raise it's profile.
My Project:
I should tell you a bit more about the project, it's a short comedy film called "Is this life?" that I plan to use as a pitch/proof of concept for a feature film to try and secure the full funding/investment from a production company or private investors that I would need and the short itself would help to get my writing career started for real as it would show people my writing style and what I'm capable of and I won't have to live the rest of my life on benefits.
Synopsis: Hapi is a struggling young scriptwriter who spends his nights working hard trying to write that one killer script that will change his life and spends his days working in a dull office while constantly getting distracted by chatty imaginary zombies and the occasional inexplicable random alien.

I have a producer on board and we have worked out the budget for the project as £1600.
Both the director and producer have contacts they can bring onto the project once funding is secured.
When I'm hoping to get things done:
I'm planning to shoot the short on June 17th (my birthday)
