My Family Needs All the Help We Can Get

If there is one thing you never expect, it's cancer. My father was recently hospitalized due to a sever pain in his side, and cancer was probably the last thing my family would ever expect that to lead to; yet here we are. After a long surgery to remove and repair a hole that had ripped in my father's colon, a 5 day stay in the hospital, and a series of tests, my dad has been diagnosed with a form of colon cancer (the specific form or stage is still unknown at this point in time). In his first official appointment with the oncologist, we were told that this isn't something that he will ever fully "beat"; he will be doing chemotherapy treatments for the rest of his life.
The worst part about this whole thing is that it actually comes at a time when my family is already down on its luck. My parents have always been very supportive of my brother and I, which means that they have often had to spend quite a bit of money on us instead of putting it away for themselves. Between a mortgage, car payments, and their continued support of my education and my brother's aspirations to join the military, I fear that extensive medical bills will break my parents, both mentally and financially.
My father is set to begin his treatment process on the first of July, but I would like to receive as much as I can to help them before the year's end. The funds that I would raise here would go towards helping my family out of debt and into a better financial place to ensure that we can continue to provide my dad with the care and treatments he needs. Even if the full goal is not met, any little bit can help us in a big way.
As with anything, prayers, good vibes, and positive thoughts are always appreciated. In this time when my family and I feel the most alone, it's nice to be reminded that we have people that care.
