My Boxing Commonwealth Title Shot!

Donation protected

My name is Hannah Rankin and I am currently one of only two female professional boxers in Scotland.
I grew up on the West coast of Scotland near Loch Lomond and was introduced to combat sport at an early age, training and competing in Tae-Kwon-Do alongside my sister.
As I chose to follow a career in Classical music, I ended up leaving combat sports for a while. But after completeing my undergraduate at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I moved to London to do a Masters on the Bassoon and got back involved with Muay Thai and then Boxing, competing in white collar boxing for charity and eventually winning the London Light Middleweight White Collar Belt.

At the begining of  2017 I decided to sign with my manager Derek 'Sweet D' Williams and apply for my professional boxing licence with my coach Noel Callan.
We are almost one year into me being a pro now and since starting I have boxed on Pay per view TV abroad in Norway, sparred with some of the top professional female boxers including Christina Hammer the WBC and WBO World Middleweight champ and 5x World Champ Mikaela Lauren and headlined at the famous York Hall where I won by International Challenge Belt!

The next step in the journey is now happening on the 16th of June (postponed from the 7th of April) where I have the chance to fight for the vacant Super Welterweight Commonwealth Title in Scotland on an MTK Scotland Promotion. This is an amazing opportunity and a chance for me to make history as the first ever UK female boxer to fight for this title!
This would allow me to join the likes of Anthony Joshua and fellow Scot, Josh Taylor, who have also won this title.

As you may know female boxing is slowly growing in the UK, however, there are still only 19 professional female boxers in comparison to the 1045 active male boxers.
Attitudes are slowly changing and people are becoming more accepting of women in the sport and more women are starting to turn pro from the amateur ranks now. This is in part thanks to big promoters such as Eddie Hearn with Matchroom Boxing and Frank Warren signing Katie Taylor and Nicola Adams after their time in the Olympics.

However, we still don't have a British Title or any domestic titles and so getting a chance to fight for such a highly regarded title as the Commonwealth Belt is a huge opportunity for me and will help my boxing career really develop. Winning a Commonwealth Title puts you in position to fight for European Titles and even World Titles and this is ultimately where I want to be heading as a boxer.

This is where I need to ask for your support and help in getting me to fight night and give me the chance to win that title and hopefully go on to eventually become a world champion!
The cost of putting on a title fight is high and as I haven't yet got a big promoter to help pay for the sanctioning fees, belt cost and the cost of the officials for the night, I am looking to raise £3000 towards these costs.  I will now have to have the money raised before the 12th of June to guarantee that I will be able to cover it before the fight else the fight will not go ahead.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey in the professional boxing world and I hope that you will be able to support me in my attempt to win the Commonwealth Title on the 16th of June in Scotland!
