My 30mile Challenge

Donation protected
This is the year I turn 30. I really wanted to make this year stand out for me, and about 3 years ago, I decided exactly how I was going to do it: I’m going to do a 30mile run.

Thirty miles is not an extraordinary distance (I live with someone who went for a 102.5mile run…), and it isn’t anything that other people haven’t done.  Let’s be honest, most could probably run it faster than me, but this is something that I haven’t done and what better time to do it than the year I turn 30?!  I am planning to go on this adventure around the end of  July.  The days will be longer that time of year and the mosquitos will be just bad enough to keep me moving.
I am planning to run from the Bechler region of Yellowstone to Old Faithful which is a pretty flat trail with beautiful creeks, rivers, and waterfalls.  My husband will be joining me on the run and his experience with ultras and his supportive nature will be my biggest asset to ensure I finish strong.

When I plot out my grand plan, I get really excited and then I start really thinking.  I think of all the people I have met in my life who can’t go on this run because of physical disabilities, sickness, and a myriad of other reasons.  I think about Bobby who is an active member of his community who, when diagnosed with ALS, only increased the volume of his voice to speak for those whose voices kept getting weaker.  I think about the people who, if they only had a little bit more help in their lives, could be that much more independent and live fuller lives.  I think about the area where I live and the problems humans have created for the animals that also call this place home.
I have picked three causes to run for that reflect what I think about when I plan my training and my run and I am hoping to help these three causes raise a few funds.  I highly encourage everyone to research these groups to understand how much your dollar really means and how much of a difference you can make to all of these groups.

Since GoFundMe does not have the ability to link to multiple groups, please leave a note as to which cause you would like to support.  If no note is left, I will split the amount between all three groups.  I will be having a third party look over all the amounts and help me distribute all the funds.  Money will be distributed within three days of me finishing my run.  An exact date will be determined based on weather.

Bob’s mission statement:“My name is Bobby Forster and I have ALS. Living with ALS is difficult, not only for the patient but for their families, friends and care team as well. That being said I want to always challenge this disease every step of the way. I want to share my experiences, adaptations and challenges with the world and inspire other patients to dare to live with ALS rather than die from this disease.”

Paws with a Cause mission statement:“Paws With A Cause® enhances the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities nationally through custom-trained Assistance Dogs. PAWS® increases awareness of the rights and roles of Assistance Dog Teams through education and advocacy.”

3)   Teton Wildlife Rehabilitation Center:http://tetonwildlife.org

Teton Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’s mission statement:“We believe it is our responsibility to counter the adverse impacts of humans on wildlife, where possible, and to teach people how to reduce human-wildlife conflicts. We provide an educational resource and standard for conservation of native wildlife species through the rehabilitation of injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife. We envision fostering the local community’s desire to assist wildlife in need by encouraging an understanding of wildlife ecology and a respect for how human-wildlife conflict impacts populations, thereby decreasing future incidents of injury. We only rehabilitate wildlife that is in need of care due to human causes, since natural processes are important for healthy wildlife populations. All animals that are able to be rehabilitated are released back to the wild.”
