Fighting For Faith
Faith is 6 years old and full of character! She has the sweetest soul and most giving heart! She is always willing to help everyone and it's our turn to help our beautiful girl!
Her treatment has begun immediately and the expenses are already piling up. Faith is expected to have a 2 year treatment journey and any contributions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you all for your help and prayers!
So mid August we moved! We were renting and the owner decided to sell the home. We were sad to go but that's life right? Anyways, we moved and bought a home! Its a very nice home. Not the home of our dreams but we are grateful that we were able to purchase a home after 7 years of renting.
We just enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and Faith got all the goodies a little 7 year old girl could want. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas too!
Faith is still enduring regular chemotherapy. She has a spinal tap this Friday that she is not looking forward too. Faith is still doing great all things considered but her body is tired. She has already endured almost 2 full years of chemotherapy. She has several new side effects presenting themselves now. Her hair is falling out again. We don't think it will be completely out again but it has thinned a lot and it has lost its luster and rich color. She has also started forming an unsightly rash on her face due to chemotherapy. We are so grateful that it doesn't not bother or itch her at all but she is very self conscience of how it looks.
She has also started experiencing what is called drop foot. One of the medicines she receives can cause nerve pain and damage. We are thankful she doesn't have the pain but she is experiencing the temporary nerve problem that causes her feet to drop when walking instead of naturally lifting up to take a step. This is causing her to fall often and to get frustrated. Prayers are appreciated!
If it persists we will have to start getting physical therapy. We could also use prayers for another side effect she is having which causes her to have trouble remembering things. Commonly referred to chemo brain. This makes school frustrating.
We know many of these side effects will dwindle away once she is off chemotherapy. Though not right away we are told. We cannot stress enough that we are grateful for how well she has done and that things are not any worse.
As usual too Faith is upbeat, smiling and has a can do attitude. I swear nothing brings this girl down. She amazes me everyday!
We are excited for 2017. Did you know she finishes treatment this year?!!! Did you know she finishes in May?!!! I am so excited, scared, elated, terrified, joyful and worried! I bounce in between all those emotions on an hour to hour basis. haha.
This year is not only Faith's end of treatment but it is also her time to celebrate getting through this journey. To start the celebrations off we will be going to Hawaii!! Faith has gotten a wish from Make-A-Wish. Her wish is to learn to hula dance in Hawaii! She is beyond thrilled to be going. Shortly after that she finishes treatment. She will have her port removed and then we are going to have a giant party for her!!! She deserves it! She has endured so much and we look forward to planning this event for her. We want her to look forward to the finish line.
We ask that you continue to pray for our sweet Faith and our family. That her health would be sustained through the remainder of treatment and that she would continue to fight. Many thanks!
Friday she had her lumbar puncture where they put chemotherapy drugs (methotrexate) in her spinal fluid. Well the poke went bad. They had to do it 2 times and Faith felt a lot of pain. When they let me back in the room Faith was crying and my heart broke. She had a headache right after and we were concerned it was a spinal headache but it got better after an hour or so and after having eaten. Her blood sugar was pretty low when they checked her blood so she wasn't feeling good to begin with. It's just been a rough day for her. This is not the usual so we are grateful for that. She is doing better now. She has gotten to hang out on the couch and color and watch movies. I am happy to see this day move behind us.
1 year and 1 month to go..........
As I laid in bed this morning snuggling my little girls my mind was racing about all that this spring will bring.
In just 20 short days Faith will be turning 7 years old! I cannot believe how quickly this last year flew by. I remember her 6th birthday like it was yesterday. It wasn’t a very good one for her to say the least. She had just gotten out of the hospital after recovering from chicken poxs and she had just shaved her head to get rid of all the pesky hair falling out. So needless to say it wasn’t the best time for her.
Faith has been such a warrior through this last year. She has taken everything in stride and managed to keep a smile on her face the whole time! That being said, I am trying to think of ways to make her day more special.
I came up with an idea and I need your help! Faith adores getting mail. Even when she couldn’t go anywhere or didn’t feel that great her favorite thing to do was walk down to the mail box and check for mail. I thought it would be so fun to surprise her with a showering of cards from everyone who loves and supports her!
A way to show her all the people in her life that are rooting for her and praying for her! A way to show her all the amazing people out there that have been inspired by her and that have supported her throughout her journey.
I am hoping to get a huge bag full of love mail for her to sit and pour over on her birthday!
If you would like to help encourage Faith and bring her some extra birthday joy, please send a card to:
P.O. Box 281
Canon City, CO
I will be collecting all the letters up till her birthday and then I will hopefully have a huge bag to present her with on her birthday!
Thank you all for always being here for us! We are forever grateful for you all!
Chels, Faith... You look beautiful! Hair is just hair, in my opinion, it's therrfor is to show we are different! You wear yours like a champ... Like the fighter you are! I'd like to make Faithsome bows for headbands! If you still have my number, message me! If not, my aunt has it. God bless all of you and a big ^5 to all the boys!
Oh, poor sweet girl. Praying for a quick recovery from those darn chickenpox! Always praying for your health and recovery.
So glad to know you are home with your family, Faith. You are so blessed and so loved, sweet little girl! God bless you and your family!
So happy that you are all back together. Still praying. Love you all!
I hope you have a restful night, sweet little Faith. God is watching over you, charging His angels to protect you while you dream. God bless you, little one!
