Lionel’s Push to Fight Cancer, Graduate High School, and Enter College
Lionel (Paul) Hill is a great, upbeat, and caring young man who just recently turned 18, and is on the very verge of graduating Hughes High School (Zoo Academy), and matriculating into Cincinnati Technical College. But a few days after his birthday, he started to notice changes in his body: first there were the headaches, fatigue set in, then his breathing became labored—a normally strong teenager soon noticed a bulge on the right side of his ribcage. In the next ensuing days—filled with a barrage of CT’s, MRI’s, and a whole host of doctor’s visits—Lionel and his family came to realize he had Liver Cancer, specifically a large tumor surrounded by a constellation of smaller ones. His treatment will begin with chemotherapy, followed by surgery and possibly a liver transplant.
So what can you do for Lionel!

Great Doctors at Children’s hospital, Cincinnati, are focused on fighting his Cancer, perhaps we can focus on getting him through the journey and toward achieving his future aspirations!
We (Jeremy Jackson and Helen Bateman-Jackson of Cincinnati) are raising funds to help Lionel get through this and not loose site of his future goals. Jeremy has been Lionel's Big Brother for 10 years (from Cincinnati Big Brother Big Sisters organization) and will be the liason to Lionel Hill and make sure he gets every penny raised. While not brothers by blood Lionel in every sense is family to us and we will work hard on his behalf.
Initially we established this fund in the early days with the aim of raising money for a laptop for Lionel to finish his schooling while in hospital so he could graduate on time. We have already acheived that, so we have now expanded the goal dollar amount so that money can be raised to cover exepenses like food and groceries, household bills for his family while in hospital and not working, medical bills that undoubtedly will come (we don't know at this point what or how much that may be because its too early), transportation for Lionel and his family to treatment/hospital. Equipment, like wheelchair, that he will need when not in hospital. We want Lionel and his family to be able to concentrate on beating the cancer, getting well and looking forward to the future and anything (bills, food, supplies) that can make that happen we hope to contribute to and cover through these funds.
