Ms. Wheelchair MN Aug Travel Care

Donation protected

My name is Lauren and I am honored to have been named Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2016. I was born with cerebral palsy and have had significant challenges and health issues to overcome and always will, but that is not what's most important. What's most important is that it is because of these challenges that I've been inspired to make disability advocacy my life's work. With Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota, I have the amazing opportunity to increase disability awareness as well as promote my platform topic which is to help to improve the patient experience. I know how difficult it is to not feel well and have the added stress of relying on others for care. I want to convey the sense of hope and comfort that I have gained in my journey, so that the journey of others doesn't have to be quite so overwhelming, that's my dream anyway.

Furthermore, I have the amazing chance to attend the National Ms. Wheelchair America pageant in Michigan. Traveling is never a simple task for me but it is entirely worth this once in a lifetime experience! I've never done anything like this before and I couldn't be more excited!  I  am so grateful for all the donations so far but I have found out that there will be some additional costs for my medical care and wheelchair while traveling.   Donations will go towards travel expenses for my caregiver and I as well as caregiver services. I have been astounded by the generosity of the people I have met. Thank you so much! Any contribution would be helpful, and very, very, appreciated!
