The Sydney Mobile Shower Bus has been Grounded!
It's a sad day for our street friends in Sydney. After operating for 2 years, providing over 3000 hot showers and helping many people acquire support and accomodation, our days of restoring dignity have come to a halt (temporarily if we get the support needed).

When our friends at the second location found out what happened people were gutted. One young girl (who is a regular patron) relies on the service so much that not being able to shower has impacted her ability to study. Every Thursday she has been attending a bookkeeping course that would eventually help her get employment, our Shower Service was the only place locally available and now she is struggling to attend feeling dirty and looked down upon so the studies have paused.
This is only one example of how important our service is and the fact that there are many people who rely on the service for many reasons on a daily basis.
The ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistic) released the Census figures yesterday and Homelessness has risen by 14% in Australia.
In Sydney homelessness has risen by 37%
UPDATE: After lots of research we have been educated that bus engines are not the cheapest thing to replace, nor is it the most reliable solution, while we decide the best long term solution for our street friends we have included the cost to replace the vehicle as an option. The last thing we want to do is fix the bus and then have ongoing concerns that cost $$$ so we are choosing to be wise with public funding, we want your $$$ to provide the best long term solution.

New Vehicle Option = $132,000
A new vehicle will last over 20+ years, below is a picture of our South Australia Service, it can be driven on a car licence and get into locations that a bus cannot. Its also enviromentally friendly fully operating on solar power.
No matter what the outcome we will get a service back on the streets of Sydney asap. Thanks for your support!
