Building a Life in South Pacific

Donation protected
In the summer of 2016, my boyfriend and I will be moving abroad to the Kingdon of Tonga - why Tonga, you may ask?
"It's in the middle of the ocean, how could you possibly sustain yourself there?"
This wonderful country is actually an archipelago of about 180 islands - broken up into 3 island groups. Approximately 90 of these islands are completely uninhabited! Blue whales migrate and mate to the northern island group, Vava'u (where we will be residing), therefore making it a golden tourism stop.
Land is cheap, the people are friendly, and it's the perfect place to live off the grid - and completely sustain yourself organically!

OUR MISSION: We want to build our own Eco-friendly home using Cob (a sand-straw-clay mixture; think coastal Greece/Crete), grow a flourishing organic garden to separate us from the need to buy produce, and eventually open an outdoor restaurant, small spa, and possibly even a kayak business!
We've researched far and wide, and continue to do so on a daily basis; our building options are the most eco friendly and budget friendly, but moving abroad is still a costly matter.

The expenses we will be facing:
- (2) Airline ticket: $900-1,300 each
- International shipping for building and living materials (approx. $3,000 tops for maximum weight calculated)
- Property ($3,000-10,000 depending on location choice and availability
- Construction of the house will be varied, depending on material costs (solar panels, power tools, basic tools), availability to have natural alternatives for less, etc. (we will be building as we go, so to start off, we will only be building a two room house with an outdoor shower, garden, and small kitchen).
- Resident & Business Visas (price to be determined)
- And of course, the extra pocket change for the unexpected

Any amount will help! We are both currently working full time jobs at a warehouse for the foreseeable future (hopefully until we depart), so a large portion we will be able to cover. But you can never be too prepared! We have long term goals of having multiple properties with multiple structures for friends and family (possibly tourists/clients as well) to stay.

*Contributions/donations will give you a free stay at one of our locations once built and prepared!*

In closing, we are choosing the island life to escape the modern buzz of our current culture. No longer can we handle such hatred, greed, and harm to our fellow humans. We want to establish our own life, filled with joy, pure sustainability, and a stress-free agenda.

Help us reach our dream!
