Down to Gas Money / motel money to get Home

Well, I'm down to needing fuel and motel money to make the trip HOME.  I've got the rental money covered, and a little bit for setting up housekeeping.  Now it's a matter of just putting together the gas money.  (See below for how I break it down) I hope you will help with a donation!

Back to the Land of Oz

The signs and messages I've been getting the last month or so are urging me to make a big change.  I've been being a live-in caregiver for an elderly gentleman, and although 94-year-old Hilbert is a great guy, I feel I've done all I can for him and me in that situation. Additionally, I’d be homeless without this gig due to the sky-high rents in SoCal, that I just can’t afford.

After a long heart-to-heart with a good friend, I got the sudden flash to re-locate to the town of my birth:  Wellington, Kansas.  I spent the first few months of my life there, before the family moved elsewhere, but my mother's family lived in Wellington, so we were frequently making the trip from Northeast Kansas down  to see the Grandma and Granddad.

Now everyone in that scenario has passed on, except my siblings, but there is still a special place in my soul for the place of my incarnation, and it has become an inspiration to me to attempt this GoFundMe project.

Another major motivation is the cost of living, which is WAY different between Encinitas and Wellington.  A two-bedroom house in the San Diego Area averages over $4000 a month and rent for a studio apartment is usually more than $1500, so if it weren't for the care-giving gig, I would be homeless here.

Dig this:  I found three 2-bedroom houses in Wellington below $650--with big yards.  I spoke with the owner of the house pictured, and he's open to letting me rent the house over the phone.

Between my modest social security check, my online store (Pure Energy Rx), and writing jobs, I can comfortably  afford that.  So now, it's a matter of getting to Wellington, and setting up a home there.

All I own has been whittled down to one suitcase, so I'll be needing some things to set up housekeeping in the new place.   The main thing is a bed.  Other home items  I have are stored at my brother's in New Mexico, so I'll be stopping by his place to get that stuff on the way to Wellington.

Here's how I break it down for the GoFundMe funds:

RENT (600) -  1200 1st/last move in
UTIL. 1ST MO - 150
FUEL - 325 @ 15 mpg (1340 mi)
MOTEL - 4 nights @ $70 = 280
FOOD - 80
BED - 250
Housekeeping Items, Incidentals - 190
GoFundMe Fee - 75
TOTAL - 2700

I'm looking to embark Mid-November.  In the meantime, I'll be helping Hilbert replace me, and praying this can all work out!  I'll be posting updates as we go along, so let me know if you have any questions before donating.  An alternate way to help is to purchase something from Pure Energy Rx , the profits of which go to overall support.

This new adventure will be very healing for me, and put me in closer proximity to the rest of my family, most of whom live in Kansas.  Plus, I'll be able to re-connect with the land that attracted my incarnation, and who knows, maybe I'll meet The Wizard!

Still pretty much on track with this project. I'm leaving Sunday morning for Albuquerque, and then spending several days with him, while we source out a vehicle. At first, I thought I'd just rent a U-Haul truck, but now I'm thinking it would be better to find a vehicle that I can use once I've moved to Wellington--a small pickup truck or car, for the price of what U-Haul charges (about $500, which I'm a little short of funds for). With donations, I could get something a little better than an old beater. So if you're inclined, hit the "donate" button. The owner of the house I'm moving to just told me the place won't be ready until around Dec. 5, so that gives me some time. Onward!

Crossing my fingers and staying positive that this project is working out. A lot of unknowns are floating around, and your donation helps tremendously in clearing a path to a positive outcome.

The main emphasis at this point is nailing down a definite house or apartment. I have applications out there, and still waiting for an answer. After that, finding a way of getting my stuff in New Mexico over to Wellington--whether it be renting a U-Haul truck or some other option...

So I booked the plane ticket to Albuquerque-- heading out Sunday morning. Today I separated the trash from what I wanted to keep from the stuff that was in my car. I'm then going to whittle it down to a backpack and a suitcase. I submitted the application for the house I've been looking to rent in Wellington. The owner, Rachel, and I have had a couple of phone conversations and messaging. Hopefully, she'll see fit to rent it to me. If not, well, I'll just keep applying until something hits, and hopefully it won't take too long.

So far, the plan is to rent a U-Haul truck (or somebody's truck) to move my stuff from my brother's place (in NM) up to Wellington. U-Haul wants $475 for the one-way trip to Wichita, and that's what I need funds for, so send in a donation if you see fit! The other way to go is to just buy a small pickup that could make the 1000-mile trip. Again, more donations would make that a preferred option!

If things work out favorably, I may just go ahead and detour up to Kansas City where my sister has some furniture she doesn't need, and kitchen stuff, which I'll need. I'm hoping to find a good deal on a new bed that can be delivered to where I'm renting.

There are more variables than I'm comfortable with at this point, so I'm using this opportunity to "let go and let god" . It becomes harder and harder to release control the more and more uncertain things become. But there are always opportunities and options you'd never think of until you release control. And that takes faith and being in the NOW.

Well, we're still "trudging toward Utopia"... Had a bit of a setback with the loss of my car. So, I've changed the transportation mode over to air. I'll be flying to Albuquerque where my brother and his wife will pick me up. I'll spend a few days with them, and then (hopefully) renting a U-Haul truck to move my stuff from my brother's to the new digs in Wellington (which has yet to fully materialize). There are some major unknowns here, but most of them would be handled with some generous donations. I feel like the pioneers of old -- "Kansas or BUST!" I'd rather not be "busted" by the time I get there! Your help could go a long way to avoid THAT scenario!
