Move Mountains for Josh Quesada
On July 3rd Josh had major liver surgery at Virginia Mason to determine how far the stage 4 colon cancer, diagnosed in January, had spread. He has healed quickly and the surgery revealed: No cancer in the liver! Great News!
However, a CT scan last week revealed that the tumors in his lung have grown significantly in size while he has been off chemo and additional tumors have grown. This means a return to an aggressive chemotherapy schedule in a few weeks to reduce the tumors size and perhaps future thoracic surgery.
We were told we would be eligible for back payment of disability wages when we applied. However, upon our first payment they informed us we are not. This was unexpected and has made our situation urgent with 5 children to care for and now mounting medical expenses.
We need to meet a $3,000 out of pocket maximum for our health insurance to get the liver surgery paid for and to ensure any future major surgeries will be covered. I am exploring options for returning to work as Josh will be unable with our most recent news.
