Motomogli's fundraiser

€1,185 of €10,000 goal

Raised by 37 people in 10 months
UPDATE (12/2018)

A big THANK YOU to all the generous souls who have helped us by contributing more than 1100€ to our campaign!

We are lucky and it seems that our circumstances will change with the new year and though I didn't suddenly get rich, it looks like we are not in dire need of new donations anymore. Please only donate if you want me to have a beer on you ;-)

END UPDATE

Hi there! My name is Martin and my furry friend (a.k.a. the Princess), you can see on the photos is Mogli.

I'll tell you a bit more about our story further down, but since you are here, you have probably already heard about our journey. For those who haven't, you can read more about us and how it all started on our website www.motomogli.com

When we left from Dubai last summer, I didn't know how we would ever be able to afford to continue the trip further than to India or Nepal, or how we would get back home. But hey, that's been the spirit of the journey all along: to venture out into the world, not knowing how or if we'll make it and to take one step at a time.
I started this fundraiser and the more than 1100€ that have been donated by very generous people and some money I got from my family and close friends have helped immensely to cover some unexpected expenses that came up.
It now looks like we won't be dependent on any new donations but instead of closing this fundraiser, I've decided to match at least the first 500€ in donations and donate them to places that need help and post proof here. Whenever I can afford it, obviously. I might end up matching it the full amount but that depends on the circumstances in the future. Do not donate any money for me to distribute!

Just recently I met a guy who teaches kids in Delhi's slums in his free time. Among other things, they need some books. These are the kind of things that I'd like to support and I hope that this will be my first chance to give back some good energy to the world.

That said, I still appreciate any amount of donation but you might want to consider donating to somebody in need of help. I will match some of the donations, as I said above, and donate for good causes myself but I'm not distributing any donations! Please don't donate thinking that I will donate it to somebody else in need. As I said, only donate if you want me to sit back and have a beer on you :-)

You also always help by spreading the word!

As mentioned before, Mogli is my cat and she and I are on an epic motorbike journey!
We started the trip in August 2017 and drove 13.000km from Rosenheim in Germany to Dubai in the UAE.  In Juli 2018, after 7 months in Dubai, we continued this trip and drove another 15.000km, through Iran and Pakistan to India. Because of an accident, Nepal will have to wait til Spring. In Spring 2019 we are going to make our way north. We are planning on making it all the way up to Russia and from there back home to Germany.  I think that makes Mogli first cat to ever go on  a cross continental motorbike road trip :-)

I understand that some of you are concerned about Mogli's well being and it's not without good reasons, a motorbike is not a place for a cat, I agree.
But I wasn't left with much of a choice. I met her on a motorbike trip through Morocco last year and when she came up to me there wasn't much life left in her, she was freezing, hungry, exhausted, injured and covered in flees. Her mother was hit by a car and I was told that she would share the fate of so many other kittens and die a cruel death. I didn't instantly decide to take her home but let her rest in my arm for the remainder of the evening, before smuggling her into the hotel room. The next morning I decided to give it a try and put her on the bike. It didn't take long for her to adjust and so a decision was made: I would take her home and she would just have to bear with me and my shenanigans. Anything better than dying!
It was a lot of hard work but I never broke her trust and she got used to traveling more and more. I always let her run loose when we get to a good spot and she always decides to come back to me but the thing I'm afraid of the most is that one day she might not come back to me.
But she needs her freedom, so this is something I just have to put up with.

Thank you for taking the time reading through this, I hope I made it worth your while!
