Jessie's Story:
I am mother of a 5 year old. A couple of days after he was born I experienced a trauma that left me paralyzed and unable to speak. (I am now able bodied and able to talk.)
The experience traumatized me and I was subsequently diagnosed with:
•PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder)
•severe post partum depression
•panic disorder
I have been in treatment for 5 years.
I have complied with the doctors & therapists that have treated me. None of them have adequately addressed my specific issues. Their answers are just more medications and hospitalizations.
I've already been hospitalized twice.
All of this has occurred while my child was passing through his infancy, his toddlerhood- I am fighting to be well so that he doesn't remain stuck with a sick mom.
My current situation is this:
•I suffer panic attacks
•debilitating depression
•flashbacks of the trauma
•obesity as a direct result of the various medications I have been placed on
I had been given a space at a treatment center in California but for reasons that you can read about in previous updates, I will not be able to go.
My family and I now need to raise enough money for the following:
•to aggressively pursue and fundnew treatments such as EMDR and Neurofeedback; our health insurance does not cover these legitimate treatment options
•childcare for my son while I am in treatment
Many of you know that I have fought hard at every step of the way to get better. There were a few times when I was ready to end my life. By grace I was taken to hospital before that happened.
With proper, specialized treatment under an experienced doctor, I feel hopeful that this pain will end. I am doing this for my son, for my husband, for my parents. The amount of suffering that they have gone through is too sad to describe.
My family and I are asking for your help now. A life of future hospitalizations, suffering and PTSD is no life at all. Please help us reach our goal. If you can help out by re-posting this on social media it would be so appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this. With Love, Jessie
