Nadia's fight! #MoreThanAGame

I'll let Nadia say it in her own words...

"On Dec 15, 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer (invasive ductile carcinoma) in my left side breast.

Shortly after the diagnosis, I was given a genetic test to check if I was BRCA1 or BRCA2 positive. What are these, you might ask? These are the two gene mutations most commonly known to cause breast cancer. Well, fortunately, or unfortunately (depends on how you look at it), I was negative for either of those genes. Instead I tested positive for one that they don't have a lot of info on yet, NBN gene mutation. The only thing they can say with certainty is that I have a "clinically significant high risk for cancer". The doctor I was working with in Cookeville, TN didn't know much about this gene mutation, and there are no protocols currently in place for what to do next. So we decided to get a 2nd opinion.

In comes UT Medical Center and Cancer Institute. I was sent there for them to do an MRI so that they could get a better look at things. In the results of that MRI, they noticed that my left lymph nodes were extremely enlarged. They proceeded to do another ultrasound of that area which led them to performing a fine needle aspiration of those lymph nodes to determine if the cancer had spread. Since I was already on a winning streak for bad test results, it came as little surprise that the cancer had found its way in. My cancer was now officially categorized as metastatic. The tumor was also measured as being almost 5.5 cm. This has placed me now in the Stage 2/3 categories (they're going back and forth on this one). Some good news though, they gave me a full body bone scan and CT scan to see if it spread anywhere else. First good test result! They were negative!

I will be on chemo for at least the next 4 months. Since so much of this feels so out of my control, I decided that if I'm going to lose my hair, I'm going to do it on my terms. After communicating that, Nashville Enl arranged a "hot shave" event at a barber shop in Nashville."

Nadai's new look

Nadia is now halfway through her chemo treatments however she still has a long way to go.

To help her through this tough time so that she can just concentrate on getting well and not worry about paying for anything that isn't covered I'm asking that you donate whatever dollars you can.

This will be predominatly used for medical expenses.

Ingress is the most amazing thing I have ever been apart of. The sense of family that comes from joining a game that turns into something so much more. It's so much more than a game and I feel privilaged that I can count Catwoman1 as my Enlightened sister. More than that I count Nadia as a dear friend who I love with all my heart.
