Moonfruits · Album #2

[English follows]

 WHO ARE THESE MOONFRUITS?
Moonfruits summons music from a place where ideals and imagination intertwine. Partners on and off stage, Moonfruits’ soaring harmonies captivate listeners in two tongues, telling tales of knitting together and coming undone. Escorted by a banjo, a glockenspiel and a perfectly perforated parlour guitar, Moonfruits celebrates common ground.

THE PROJECT
Our sophomore album tells the story of a village making a hard go of the here and now. Writing in French and pulling as much from our imaginations as from our encounters on the road, characters emerge and speak through song.

The theme? Fighting isolation with compassion.

This December, at La Piaule, in St. Bernardin, we’ll be recording the usual Moonfruits suspects – guitar, banjo, voice and glockenspiel – but also kalimba and field samples. We’ll send the album for mixing and mastering in early 2017 and we’ll launch it in May!

With the generous support of the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa, we have half of our production budget covered. We are asking for your support now to help us honour the vision we hold of the album and the characters that live through it. Our goal is to raise half our remaining costs : $5000. You can help us reach this goal by pre-ordering albums, show tickets and house concerts.

With your help, we’ll be able to make physical copies of the record and add more depth to our arrangements, working alongside some wonderful players on double bass, drums and organ – if folks are very generous indeed, we have a string quartet lined up and arrangements at the ready!

Community and collaboration are both inspirational and essential to the making of this record. As a supporter of this project, you’ll play a crucial role in seeing it come to fruition and get a chance to peek behind the curtain and see into our creative process.
