Medical Treatment for Monique

Dear friends & family,
My name is Nicole, my younger sister Monique has been fighting and living with an unknown debilitating disease for years now. In the past two weeks, we finally have a diagnosis. Late Stage Lyme Disease. This is good news and bad news. Good, because we finally have a diagnosis. Bad, because Ontario will not acknowledge it and therefore will not treat her! Without proper treatment my sister, who is a loving wife and mother of two young children will disappear before our eyes.
Monique's journey began more than 15 years ago when she unexpectantly needed her gall bladder removed and a year later needed her appendix removed. During that surgery, the doctors discovered that she had a carcinoid tumor inside her appendix and severe endometriosis. The endometriosis has required multiple surgeries and other harsh medical treatments that culminated with a full hysterectomy at the young age of 33. In the last 3 years, Monique's health has declined dramatically. She has had times where her hand and arms went numb for weeks. Once she was hospitalized for 3 weeks because she went numb from the waist down and could not walk. It took months to fully recover but it left her with a right foot drop. The doctors could not diagnose her condition so they told her it was all on her head! Fortunately, we have an incredible family doctor who would not believe that Monique was faking her ailments and continued to pursue a solution. Additionally, she has a loving family that is determined to unravel this medical mystery.
Monique is in constant pain and has a permanent right foot drop. She is trying so hard to be the wife and mother she used to be but the disease is taking a greater hold. The disease has not only affected her neurological and endocrine system but is also affected her heart. She needs treatment A-S-A-P!
After doing extensive research into multiple treatment facilities, it became clear that the best place to go to is the Sponaugle Wellness Centre in Oldsmar, Florida. Her case has been reviewed and extensive treatment is needed to eliminate the bacterial and viral infections that are slowly taking my sister away from us. I have spoken to Nick, our patient advocate at the Sponaugle Wellness Centre and it will cost approximately $5500 per week. Treatment will run 12-16 weeks. We have set up a "gofundme" account to allow for Internet donations. Please consider helping us if you have been touched by my sister's story.
We have connected with other people from Ontario who have been treated by Dr. Sponaugle for the same illness, and have had success. They also had to raise money in this manner to afford the treatment.
We are not giving up hope. We are a strong, loving and tenacious family that is now asking for your help to fund Monique's much needed medical treatment. Please note, all donations will be used to fund Monique's medical treatment and all bills will be posted for public view.
