Molly needs a Mac

$1,750 of $1,500 goal

Babycakes is on her way out. My 8-year-old MacBookPro laptop has been hitting the skids which is very scary. I already have a desktop iMac that crashed over a year ago and I haven't been able to access the hard drive there.
If Babycakes goes before I can replace her, my professional and social lives are going to take some hard hits.
I live on my laptop. It's where I write, edit, socialize, and publicize. Not just for me but for the people I work for and hope to work for.
With the connections and referrals I receive daily, being without internet or a laptop is a very scary, anxiety-causing, heart-palpitating, nightmare-inducing thought.
Yes, I've backed up my information. But old information does no good if I can't create new content.
This is not only my passion, it's my livelihood and a piece of the pie for others as well.
So on the advice of a treasured family member, I'm doing the scary thing and putting this out there.
My goal is to raise $2,500 which would incrementally provide for a new laptop, external drive (the new laptops no longer have disc drives), carrying case/backpack, mic and headset for podcasts, and anything over and above could go toward resurrecting the iMac or at least retrieving the info off its hard drive. Beyond that, any funds would be invested in writing supplies: printer, ink, paper, document production, travel/conference/speaking expenses, and the like.
I teach social media platform building, produce a weekly podcast, run social media for fourteen sites, am a freelance editor, blog for myself and am a contributing blogger to other sites, and am working on the first of at least nine novels in my "City Series".
My current laptop is slowly fading. The response time to connect to the internet is jagged and slow, it's not just my internet. Some sites work fine but the sites I need to access regularly and quickly are problematic.
I'm afraid of losing everything I have before I have the chance to reboot.
This worry is a distraction I'd like to get off my plate as soon as possible.
Thank you for reading, and for your prayers, positivity, and providence. I anticipate a heartfelt update soon, and you have my unending appreciation for investing not only in this GoFundMe campaign, but ultimately, helping to lay some stepping stones to my career.
~Happy writing,
Molly Jo

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am honored still to have been so blessed with the prayers and generosities of so many which enabled Raven to come home and further my goals.
In the last few months, I've stepped up my writing, editing, and social media game and it's because of Raven.
2017 is already shaping up to be a fantastic year, and I hope you'll follow me on Facebook and Twitter and be a part of it all.
This year, I'm giving thanks for all of you.
My Happy Planner, for a happy new year.

Hey y'all! Just a post-success update.
Remember when I said a new laptop was gonna open doors for me? Well, yesterday the door it opened was for my first "big group" presentation. I was so excited to speak at the Writers of Kern, and my new laptop Raven accompanied me to share my first PowerPoint presentation (say that five times fast!), "Growing Your Social Media Swarm."
It's the first of many doors I hope to open, yet it's the finishing touch of coming full circle.
Because of social media, y'all shared my campaign and helped me get a much needed new laptop. Which in turn is now helping me teach others how to better utilize their social media.
It's amazing, fulfilling, exciting . . . and just the beginning of the adventure.
So thanks for that. And, well, everything.
Y'all are the sweet to my tea. :)
If you get the chance, check out today's blog post at
If you build it, they will come.

Remember that time when y'all rallied up and helped me get a new laptop just like the old laptop, only better? Remember how I promised to strive to be worthy of your investment?
It's been a good week. No, scratch that.
It's been a great week!
I spent the better part of the holiday weekend setting up social media and blog posts for a few days.
My first fully completed task was setting up and producing the Firsts in Fiction podcast. That was a hoot. Fun from start to finish.
And I wrote a book. Well, I wrote a booklet.
Yup. You read that right. I wrote.
After I brought Raven home, I had several people ask me for tips on successful crowdfunding. I'd had an inkling for a while that I could share my insights, so I decided after another inquiry to put my knowledge into print.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present the product of my energies (and your investment), Crowdfunding Your Way to Success. It is now available for purchase via Amazon Kindle.
This is your success, too. Y'all rode the ride with me as I learned what works, what doesn't, why, and how.
And I'm more than happy to be back Doing the Write Thing (see what I did there?).
With many pennies and a jar full of thanks,
~Molly Jo

Happy Independence Weekend!
I know most of this is repeat information, but I'm still so excited. I'm celebrating at Bedford Manor by transferring files from Babycakes to Raven. That's right; if y'all haven't heard yet, because of YOU I have a new laptop.
And not just any laptop. THE laptop.
A week ago Friday, I made another excited push for funding and you stepped up, donated, hired me for editing, and prayed.
And so a week ago Friday, I walked into Best Buy with just enough to get a new laptop.
Only, I was wrong on the price. We'd been misinformed. The model I wanted was still available, but there was a $400 difference in price. In my favor.
And then it was on sale for $200 less.
And then my friend had a student discount in her email for another $100 off.
My beautiful laptop was already $700 off and all I did was walk in the door.
I walked out with the laptop, Office 365 software, antivirus software, a new carrying case, a clam shell snap-on cover, and a new case for my Kindle. Bonus: the clam cover was the wrong size so I returned it and had to order the right size from Amazon, so got a matching keypad cover. Now my keyboard is a gradient of Calypso Blue. It's all very peacocky and I love love love it.
I more than love it. I feel rejuvenated. Accomplished. And ready to take on the world.
I've already been editing, social media nina-ing, podcast producing, and of course, writing.
And it's because of YOU.
I looked through my wish list, and there is nothing left. While this campaign is just over 50% funded, I can take $700 off the goal due to savings on the laptop, and another $300 for not needing the external drives and accessories I originally planned for. That puts me at well over 100% funded right now, and I still have editing funds coming in.
I'm humbled, amazed, thrilled, and getting back to work.
Thank you.
With a quick processor and many words,
~Molly Jo
