MBI 5n5 Industry Growth Initiative
Donation protected
A new challenge by the MBI US & Canadian Foundations will match your donation dollar-for-dollar.
In 2015, MBI set an aggressive goal of increasing the market share of commercial modular construction from an estimated 2.5% to 5% of all new construction starts by 2020. MBI conducted an extensive evaluation of commercial construction in North America, compared industry data to data from CMD (formerly Reed Construction), and determined the value of new PMC projects put in place annually is US$3-4 billion, or 2-3% of all new commercial construction projects.
Charged with this goal, how do we accomplish it? Our focus now shifts to identifying growth barriers and opportunities. What lessons can be learned from abroad? How do we overcome perception issues? How do we attract investment by government? What is the role of building information modeling? Do we need a marketing campaign? How do we impact the next generation of construction professional? How do we grow PMC without abandoning relocatable buildings?
Professor Ryan Smith from the University of Utah is beginning a year-long research project that will conclude in an industry action plan to double the market share of commercial modular construction.
We need your support. Through the end of the 2017 World of Modular, your donation to help cover the expenses of this important research will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the MBI US & Canadian Foundations up to $25,000 in total gifts with a goal of raising $50,000.
