On Monday 16th July, our son got into trouble whilst swimming in the sea off West Mersea. He was pulled out by a rip tide to 100metres offshore, where he was rescued by an off duty RNLI Lifeboat man. During the immediate time after he was seen by the Ambulance service including the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
The story of what happened is below.

Currently there are no warning signs about the tide where our son got into trouble.
For this reason, we are fundraising to get enough money to have signs erected in the area so that other visitors and locals alike can all be warned of the dangers in the area. If we can save just one life, or one chance of this happening again, the signs will have done their job.
Any funds left over following the signs being allowed by the council, will be split evenly between the RNLI in West Mersea and the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
We as parents, our son, and his friends would be very grateful indeed if you would be willing to sponsor our son and his friends complete a sponsored swim on Wednesday 29th August to swim as many lengths as possible between them.
