Our Mom’s Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Hi Everyone,

We're not sure how to start this, or even how to really talk about this...
We never thought in our lifetime, we would be reaching out for help for Our Mom’s Road to Recovery.

Our Mom's name is Liz, she has only recently turned 54 years old and was diagnosed with Metastatic Lung Cancer on November 28, 2017. She was given 6 months without any treatment.
Much beyond this, our Mom is our world, our rock, our best friend, and the soulmate of our wonderful Dad, Mike. - She is compassionate, intelligent, loving, nurturing, hilarious, happy, fun, strong, puts a smile on your face, and most of all has pure passion for her family and life. We want her around for a lot longer than the doctor’s are suggesting... we want to keep her safe... we want to help her heal. We want our Mom healthy!

Liz’s cancer form is not suitable for either surgery, chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
However, she will begin an experimental drug that has been out on the market for 4 months now, a highly expensive Immunotherapy treatment. There is a chance that her treatments may change depending how her body responds.

We, her children, Leanna, Darcy and Victoria would like to raise as much money as possible for her recovery with our goal being $10,000 - This money will go towards, treatments, doctors, nutrition, bills, and anything else our Mom needs to become healthy and cancer free.

Our parents have no idea that we have started this page ... We want to SURPRISE our Mom and Dad SHOWING THEM THAT THEY ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS FIGHT AGAINST CANCER!!!

Please help us spread our link by posting on your social media outlets and sharing with your friends and family, another option is to text the link to friends and family ❤️
We thank every bit of support in our Mom’s journey.

With Love,
Leanna, Darcy & Victoria

Good Morning Everyone,

Yesterday afternoon, our Mom received a call from Bay Shore Health, they explained they will be administrating her experimental treatment as early as Friday. This is really good news, most people who find out they have the C word, end up waiting sometimes months to receive treatment.
We will keep you all posted, thank you again for all of your support.

Good Evening Everyone,

Today, Mom has started a new experimental treatment, the Oncologist believes this will be better suited for her and help prolong her life more than the other drug. Today was day one, so we will keep you all posted. Mom is in good spirits ❤️
Thank you all so very much, for all your love and support.

UPDATE:
January 10, 2018

Hello Everyone,

First of all, I am extremely sorry for such a delayed and overdue update. The last 4 weeks have been incredibly difficult physically, mentally and emotionally for our Mom. Cancer has not only affected her, it’s affected all of us, in many different ways...

Over the last 4 weeks, our Mom has been taking her experimental drug called Afatinib - this drug has the same symptoms and side effects as Chemotherapy. At the beginning - week one - she was seemingly doing well, appetite, upbeat, positive attitude, not so nauseous, at least I believed “Wow! She’s got this, this isn’t so bad” As time passed, day by day, she progressively got worse. It is the most heart wrenching experience to see your flesh and blood deteriorate before your eyes, and there isn’t a thing you can do about it, but love and support and stay positive for her.
Liz, our Mom, began to develop a rash on her face, it looked like little white heads everywhere and had a red undertone, completely irritated and uncomfortable. That same rash then travelled into her mouth, canker sores everywhere - continuing to travel down her throat. It then turned all of her food into an obnoxious metallic flavour to top it off. It brings tears to my eyes even writing this - pure torture having food right in front of you and not being able to swallow. We’ve tried everything, juicing, smoothies, puréed soups, soft foods, chewy foods, etc etc etc... eventually when she would get half a cup of soup down in a day, it would come right back up. In the last month she has lost 12lbs...She is dealing on a daily basis with awful bowels, nausea, restless interrupted sleeps, pain, starving but unable to eat properly, rashes, canker sores down her throat, and at times deep depression ....

She is coming out on top, her support system (all of you), her friends and family are all giving her the strength she needs to beat this physically, mentally and emotionally. So thank you for the love, support and the donations to help our Mom receive the best treatment possible. A special thank you to those who stuck their neck out with mass emails to help get this going ❤️

Our Mom had her Oncologist appointment yesterday, as she is a month into her treatment. The Oncologist showed the X-Ray to her and my Dad, Mike - it showed the tumour that was the size of a baseball shrink to the size of a quarter - 75% shrinkage of this cancerous tumour trying to take our Mom’s life.
As you can imagine, the fire was lit again and the fight is burning stronger to kick this cancers ass!
THANK YOU ALL for being her support system... every bit has helped and is continuing to help.

THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER ....
however, this is a huge step in the right direction ... she is continuing natural therapies via an ND that are costly and is also continuing her regular treatment that is upwards of $8000/month.

We thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for the love, support, kind words, strength, donations & positive healing energy. Thank you, Thank you ❤️

I will keep you updated as the news comes in, until then - be close with your loved ones, live life to the fullest, be kind to each other ... Love is the answer ❤️
