Victoria's Fight Against Leukemia
Victoria is almost 16, a sophomore in high school and aspires to be a pediatric oncologist. Miss V is a beautiful, intelligent young woman, full of life, energy and has the fight inside of her to conquer this!
As of today Victoria has started her intense chemotherapy treatments, in which the Matthews' will need to travel back and forth between Reno and the Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA. While the family does have great insurance, the travel and hotel stays are going to be very expensive.
Our hope is that we can support them in this time of need and make this fight against cancer as stress-free as possible. Please help us raise money for Miss V and her family, any help is greatly appreciated!
I am so VERY excited to announce that the Matthews family received one of the best presents they could have received today! Test results from the bone marrow they extracted yesterday from her hip came back NEGATIVE for cancer!!!!!
She still has months of treatment ahead of her to ensure there are no cancer cells anywhere else...however this is definitely a victory to celebrate! The family is working with the doctors and the hospital staff to finalize what happens next!
Whooo hooo this is one step closer to coming home!!!
We love you V and wish you the Happiest Birthday!!!
Day three down of chemotherapy! She now has a central IV port for the chemo/drawing labs which is great, however she is dealing with headaches and pain from the incision when the lumbar puncture procedure was done to test for the APL cells in the spinal fluid. She is receiving AB+ platelets to minimize any potential rejections or unnecessary complications. The pain medication she is taking as well as the 2 chemo drugs cause nausea, so she is continuing to deal with that.
The doctors are continuing to monitor her closely to modify the drugs/dosage/frequency and evaluate her for any new conditions or side effects. The Matthews' family is comforted to know that the doctors are monitoring V around the clock and she is getting additional tests as needed!
V there are so many people that love you, support you and are fighting with you... be strong sweet heart and know we are here for you!
I am so sorry to hear about this beautiful young woman, who is William Barclays student, and I'll with Leukemia. I am committing to prayer the healing of Victoria by the healing hands of God. I have seen God do healing for many through prayer, so I'm petitioning Him on your behalf Victoria, and for your family as well. May you be healed and strengthened and restored to health. God bless you-stay strong! With Love...
I'm so thrilled for you. I got my cancer-free from my doctor right before Christmas. It's a wonderful feeling. (Erika Herrera's mom).
