Miriam and Family at First English

Donation protected
UPDATE! As of February 23, 2021, Miriam and her family were granted a stay of supervision which ensures that she will not be at risk of deportation at this time. Miriam and her family were able to celebrate and share tearfully in this new found freedom along with the loved ones who have gathered around her over these last couple years. Though her time in sanctuary is at an end, she is still in need of assistance in covering legal fees and processing fees to ensure that Miriam can receive documentation and her permit to work. This is simply the first step in the legal process to help Miriam gain citizenship. The process is long and costly and our work is not yet done until Miriam is recognized as a citizen. If you wish to continue to support Miriam in her fight for freedom, the funds collected will assist in the legal and processing fees that accrue throughout this journey towards citizenship.

At the end of June 2018, Miriam and her family sought out sanctuary after exhausting the options available to ensure she could stay with her family and in the city of Columbus, which has been her home for the last 13 years. Miriam is a mother of two young children who are staying with her in sanctuary.

While Miriam is in sanctuary, she will need assistance with legal fees, medical bills, general monthly payments, and various other monetary needs as they come. This campaign is to ensure monetary stability while Miriam and her family are working to secure her citizenship and legal standing so that she may stay with her family and move forward with their lives in their home.

Your support will help greatly in keeping Miriam and her family comfortable while they are in sanctuary and also remove any financial burdens that occur during the process of getting her and her family home.

The Columbus Sanctuary Collective, First English Lutheran Church, Miriam, and her family are deeply grateful for any support you are willing to offer during this time.
